Low Auldgirth Steading Description

Low Auldgirth Steading is a beautiful nineteenth centaury farm steading with stunning views over the Dumfries and Galloway countryside.

The farm is situated within close proximity to the many attractions the Dumfries and Galloway area has to offer. Including, the Seven Staines mountain biking routes, Dunscar Castle, the food heaven of Castle Douglas and the artist town of Kirkudbright. Closer to home we have numerous walks that start straight from the doorstep, with resident wildlife that includes Red Kites, Barn Owls, red squirrels and hare’s. All this, and within walking distance to the local pub too.

The farm itself is home to a rather friendly herd of Gotland, Hampshire Down and Ryeland sheep, who earn their keep providing beautiful top quality fleeces for spinning and weaving. There’s also a cheeky brood of chickens, providing a hearty fresh breakfast for all our guests and some terribly busy bees, catering to those with a sweeter tooth.

The farm offers a range of accommodation for those exploring the area, whatever your taste maybe. We offer glamping experiances amongst the wildflowers, luxurios five star retreats in the forest at the Outdoor Hotel. Entertain yourself and guests in our self-catering accommodation, escape it all and disappear into our back to nature wild camping experience. Or if you simply require a place to rest your head and dry off before hitting the trails again, our bunk house bothy will be perfect for you. Whatever you’re looking for you can find it here, and we’re always on hand to help.
