.#Reservists remain on duty over the festive period, helping to keep people safe and defend the UK’s global interests, particularly in the Middle East, Eastern Europe and the Baltics.
Wherever they are, we wish them and their families a #MerryChristmas and a #HappyNewYear

Dumfries and Galloway Council continues to demonstrate its leadership in supporting the Reservists, Veterans and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers in the region by re-signing the Armed Forces Covenant.
Interestingly, Col Fitzpatrick (pictured) countersigned the original Community Covenant with Dumfries & Galloway Council almost a decade ago when he was serving as Commanding Officer of 6 SCOTS.
We are immensely grateful to the local authority for re-affirming its support.

This is incredible – Cdr Jane Allen is circumnavigating the coast of the GB mainland (anti-clockwise from Portsmouth) on foot to raise money and awareness for the Women's Royal Naval Service Benevolent Trust and the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity.
She completed more than 2,000 miles around the rugged Scottish coast (pictured meeting Royal Navy colleagues at HMNB Clyde) and recently crossed from Dumfries and Galloway back into England yesterday. In total she has walked more than 3,500 miles, and still has at least another 2,000 miles to go.

Last night, more than 100 guests gathered in the Great Hall of Edinburgh Castle as employers from Scotland were awarded with Ministry of Defence ERS Silver Awards.
The Silver award recognises employers that go above and beyond to support the Armed Forces community, and employ and support those who serve, veterans, and their families – typically by putting in place initiatives that make it easier to employ veterans, helping ex-forces personnel to transition into a civilian ca...reer or supporting Armed Forces Reservists to train and mobilise on active service.
The awards were presented by Major General Ranald Munro, Assistant Chief of Defence Staff, to:
Bright Purple Resourcing Ltd Dunbartonshire Chamber of Commerce Highlander IED Training Solutions Ltd Lothian Buses Midlothian Council Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce Scottish Chambers of Commerce Scottish Rugby
We are grateful to Major General Mike Riddell-Webster, Governor of Edinburgh Castle, for use of such a fine venue.
We were also delighted that Kilmarnock Football Club took the opportunity to become an Armed Forces-friendly employer by signing the Armed Forces Covenant. Club CEO Kirsten Robertson is pictured with Air Marshal Stuart Atha, Deputy Commander Operations, Royal Air Force.

Tune in to tonight’s STV News at Six to hear Motherwell Army Cadet Conor Mullen talking about his family’s links with #WW1.
As part of #armycadet100 more than 3,500 Army Cadets got the chance to visit the battlefields of France to understand the causes of WW1 and remember the sacrifice made by so many 100 years ago.

Army Cadets aligned to 1SCOTS from West Lowland Bn ACF HQ and Lothian and Borders Army Cadets continued the iconic tradition of wearing a red rose behind their cap badge at Minden Day parades at Barry Buddon and Altcar today.
The tradition commemorates British soldiers who picked roses as they advanced on enemy forces at the Battle of Minden in 1759.
Achieving victory Prince Ferdinand, commander of allied forces, remarked - "It was here that the British Infantry gained immortal glory."
