Pilates Story. . . . .

Lonneke has been around sport and exercise from as far back as she can remember. Her mother was a former ballet dancer and her father the former Masters, British Open and World No. 1 golfer Sandy Lyle; with this heritage it is clear Lonneke was destined to spend her life and career around fitness, health and exercise in one form or another.
Her first passion however was for musical theatre and to this day when she's not working with a client you will find Lonnie singing and dancing.
It was her first personal experience of Pilates that led her on her own journey of discovery. Originally just a keen student, she found herself more and more interested in Pilates, movement and the human body and it gave her the encouragement to pursue this interest further.
A few years later Lonnie now has undergone very intensive training on both sides of the Atlantic and possesses a wealth of knowledge and experience in Pilates. Working both within a group setting as well as one to one clients, Lonnie prides herself on her ability to improve the quality of lives of her clients in the most dramatic ways. She loves to share her passion for the human body, helping her clients understand the root and causes of the aches and pains and mobility issues that we all face and how to combat these. She's worked with professional athletes, dancers, gymnasts, runners, clients with sciatica, hip /knee replacements and much more.
If you are interested in improving posture, looking to rehabilitate existing or prevent potential injury, looking to increase confidence with your own body or just perhaps you'd like to feel taller, lighter and more 'free' in yourself please have a chat with Lonnie; she would love to hear from you! Flying is not my body’s happy place (is it anyone’s?!) so I try to get some hip and glute stretches in to ease the stress. It’s not just the flying time you need to think about... we spent two hours in a car to the airport then waited in the lounge a further two hours before the 8 hour flight and finally the journey home on the other side of the pond. Pilates is not just just a fitness routine for me, it’s a method of maintaining my body’s happy state! . It has been such a great day of learning at Pilates on tour in London. I am already loaded with information and eager to expand my learning further with @brentpolestar. I was nervous about the lecture on Pilates for Rheumatologic patients worried I had stepped into a topic way beyond my abilities and knowledge even scared to say the wrong thing. Reality is we all have to start somewhere keep learning, keep challenging ourselves and be the best you can be for every client that... walks through the door. Lonneke is my favourite pilates instructor, I would love to get to some more reformer classes with her if work ever settles down, it’s the only exercise class I have ever actually enjoyed.

Lonneke is an amazing Pilates teacher and a genuinely lovely person. Her knowledge about posture and alignment is first class and with her attention to detail, she individualises programmes to the specific needs of each of her clients. Wish I could make more of her sessions!

Kicked this training week off with my first 1-1 Session with the lovely Lonnie �I was actually really nervous about going in as it's something I'm not used to just like anything really if it's out of your comfort zone. Really enjoyed the session it was really challenging but made me a lot more aware of my hip alignment and posture (which I found quite difficult whilst performing some of the exercise) Being 26 weeks pregnant some exercises can be very uncomfortable but after Pilates I felt nice relaxed and felt a lot more mobile. Definitely going to try and include Pilates into my training schedule especially in the lead up to the last few weeks of pregnancy. Would highly recommend! Thanks again! X

I've been learning with Lonneke for over a year now and taking weekly mat classes. These have really helped me to develop a strong core and to improve my posture which as a musician has been so valuable. I recently took a Reformer class and what a workout! The mat classes can be tough but this was a real challenge and my abs were on fire for a couple of days afterwards. It's great to get focussed attention and the reformer really shows where any uneven movements are taking place in for example roll ups or leg extensions. I would highly recommend Lyle Pilates, especially for musicians!

I've been doing Pilates for about 4 years and been lucky to have Lonneke as an instructor for at least 2. By far the best instructor I have been to in Glasgow. Well planned and varied classes for all levels. Delighted that she has recently self up her own studio. Small group classes mean that you get individualised guidance and corrections to get to most out of the class.

I've been attending the beginner's mat class after some one to one sessions with Lonneke. What a difference in my back, knees and core! I am rather stiff etc but a fantastic difference in my flexibility. Lonneke has been very suportive and patient with me while driving me on to bigger and better things! Well done...a great mat class!

I went to see Lonneke with some back pain and I couldn't have asked for more from her! The exercises we worked through together as well as the extra work she gave me to work on in my own time did wonders for the pain and my mobility and I now feel better than ever! I can't lie i was very nervous about my first Pilates class with Lyle Pilates, having never tried it before I was a little scared.



But from the second I arrived Lonneke was welcoming and so reassuring about my general lack of strength & flexibility. That was over 2 months ago now and I can safely say that my session at Lyle Pilates has quickly become my favourite hour of week.



And although I'm still very much a beginner I'm enjoying each week making small improvements with Lonneke help & support.

Lonneke gets to know her clients needs and capabilities really well and thoroughly plans and prepares every session. I have been fortunate enough to attend Lonneke's classes for about two years and can honestly say that every one has been different. I will miss her but wish her all the very best in her career and her life.
