Macaulay Farm Lodge Description
Situated on a family owned working farm with free range hens and pigs, traditional interior with Canadian brushed pine walls, kitchen and beds made by ships carpenters. Enjoying views of the Isle of Lewis countryside and beyond.
Located on the outskirts of Stornoway, ideal base as a family or a group of friends to explore the Western Isles. Within easy walking distance for fishing on the River Creed. Enjoy many outdoor activities, kayaking, sailing, diving, hill walking, climbing as well as the great natural beauty and wildlife. Lewis has a wealth of archaeological, Visit Callanish Stone Circle-second only to Stonehenge or take a boat trip to the remote Isle of St Kilda. Horse trekking, go karting, fishing, surfing and paint ball activities can be arranged. Activities for persons with additional needs can be arranged through Macaulay College close to the property. Visit a mill in Carloway and Shawbost to see the famous Harris Tweed in process. 3 miles away in the main town of Stornoway you will find supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, a cinema & leisure centre, museum and craft shops. Games room: table tennis table, 6ft pool table which converts to hockey table, seating area with flatscreen TV and DVD.
The spacious accommodation offers FIVE bedrooms: upstairs 1 super king-size. Downstairs 1 double with en-suite with bath and shower, 2 twin rooms and 1 single room. Bathroom: downstairs with bath, shower and WC. Shower room: upstairs with WC and further shower room downstairs with WC. Separate downstairs WC. Lounge /diner: spacious open-plan with open fire, TV, DVD, CD player, iPod dock and traditional dining area. Kitchen /diner: gas cooking range, dishwasher, microwave and fridge freezer. Utility room: with washing machine. Outside: large enclosed south facing garden overlooking farm and mainland hills in the distance with picnic tables and BBQ. Amenities: ample parking, bed linen, towels, central heating from eco-friendly ground source heat pump and Wi-Fi included. Regret no smoking. 2 dogs welcome, additional by arrangement. Additional info: saddle room and large front porch for wet weather clothing and sporting equipment. Discount available for groups of 5 or less, please contact our bookings team. Great chance to get up close to all kinds of sea life! "Sea Lewis" do trips out from Stornoway. Just three miles from Macaulay lodge! We still have a few summer vacancies. But not many!

A wee bit of film of yesterday's "guests!" They regularly turn up in the lodge garden, not to mention the strawberry beds!

We spent a week here with the family last year which coincided with the Hebridean festival, a great cultural experience!!
The lodge was clean and tidy, the rooms were spacious and amenities were excellent. We especially loved the games room!! Nothing was too much trouble for the owners, and the welcome basket full of local treats was a lovely touch!
We had a lovely week exploring the island and visiting the gorgeous white sand beaches, would definitely recommend the lodge!
Lovely lodge and loads of room, had the nice rustic look and nice fireplace added to that great away feeling, definitely recommend visiting here.
Great place, good old school atmosphere
Great place to stay on our first trip to Lewis and Harris. Fantastic location for exploring the island and with easy access to nearby Stornoway. All was clean and tidy and everything we needed was there. We especially enjoyed going down the field to visit the pigs, sheep, hens, bantam cockerel and turkeys! Still can't believe how epically beautiful these islands are.
Fantastic holiday house! Highly recommend staying here.
