First thing - very long queue to check in and check out. Were ignored by spa receptionist twice. Breakfast - had to ask three times for clean glasses for a drink, food wasn't filled. Didn't have spoon for my tea. Most of the waiting staff very young and unprofessional. 2 good things - nice clean and spacious room, very comfy bed and the therapists were lovely and great treatments
Although the golf was fantastic. The service at the Hotel was somewhat lacking. I was part of a group of 6 and we were made to feel like we didn't belong. All I can say is if you are part of a group who are visiting through Golf Breaks I'd think again before booking here. A smile goes a long way. There's also no cash machine and during our stay I couldn't pay by card. The only option was to borrow or drive into Peebles.
Great venue! If you are looking for a getaway, I highly recommend this hotel. Great rooms, great facilities and the food is excellent! Overlooking a very beautiful scenic championship golf course which is a great course to play. All the staff are very friendly and once you have visited here, you will want to return.

Excellent in every way- except it’s proximity to the main road.
The spa is In very good condition the restaurant is exceptional, for hotel food. The choice of food is consistently fresh and the breakfast is delicious.
I’m most impressed with the bed, the pillows, the fluffy towels and the nice little touches.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.
I joined Cardrona as a Leisure / Spa Member when it was first built. Over the years we have seen Leisure Staff come and go as well as several Managers. I must say that John and his current crop of staff are by far the best that my friends and I have ever encountered. Bravo Mr Forrester. Its the small things John has brought to the Club such as Pillows for the poolside seating and new digital locks but to name a few. The leisure gang are genuinely nice people. And most importantly care. Little Tamra, such a star, always chirpy and pleasant.
We do however miss Linda the Spa Receptionist always on hand to greet us and always with a smile on her face. Since her departure there is never any charisma from the staff at the reception. At times we never get an acknowledgement or a Hello. The Manager in the suit (sorry unsure of name) needs to attend a customer service course, she is letting the hotel down am afraid. I know my fellow Gym Bunnies and I would use the treatments much more often but the spa manager has no interest in us members a very abrupt and rude person. Such a shame.....
However this should not put anyone of Joining the club as John, his team and the facilities are the best in the area although the club is getting a little dated but aren't we all.
This is a great hotel about 3 miles from peebles. You can walk along the river to peebles, cycle or get the bus. It's very close to glentress so you can cycle directly to it.
It's great for lunch and dinner is really good here, do book in advance as not to be disappointed at the weekend.
