We have just had the best 3 nights stay! The location - wow! Breathtaking! The staff are all fantastic, Rachel and the reception team so helpful and knowledgeable, the restaurant team - Atilla looked after us at breakfast and dinner - such a hard worker! We had a spa day - Emma was amazing - I had a fab facial and back massage. Amazing Walks and a trip to Loch Lomond. The village of Amberfoyle close by is also lovely! Thanks to the GM Andrew - we will be back!

User

Stayed last week with my husband ... great as usual... ok there were a few hiccups in the restaurants but I am still awarding 5 stars ..the staff are all very nice and so hard working...special thanks to Danielle on reception. Only real problem was 2 days was not long enough !

User

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for the first time,we booked a Spar and evening meal with over night stay, got to say it was a very enjoyable stay. Our room was booked for us to check in at 3 o'clock,we arrived early and had the use of the pool and facilities, this wax great,Emma the treatment therapist was very good,we both enjoyed treatments. Our room was very clean and well laid out, there was tea making facilities in our room,we had a good view looking over the Loch and the well looked after hotel grounds. The staff in the restraunt were spot on,very polite with great service, the food was great,, Breakfast was also great, plenty of choice with great service again,,,we will definitely be going back on baises of stay..

User

Location Location What a lovely setting for the Hotel a warm welcome and a great spacious room king size bed two seater sofa and a chair large bathroom and tv I very much enjoyed my stay and will be back only let down by the restaurant.

User

What a stunning location. It was a lovely day and it really showed it off. Lovely girls in reception and we got our room early as I had a spa session booked. Lovely room, exceptional bathroom. Shower taps in the right position so you could turn it on without getting wet! 👍 fabulous view from the balcony ( room 102). Good choice of tea and coffee. Great spa massage and facial, lovely lady. Booked evening meal and it was all delicious. Waitress was patient.. I think she was Spanish? Good hot, beef cheeks yummy, maybe needs a little more jus. Fab sleep and early morning swim. Breakfast, hmmm hard to ask questions as foreign waiter ( v polite). I was a rasher of bacon short and egg not that warm, however, would not put me off staying again. Head waiter.... tip please iron your suit! 😂

User

Treatments were great, very relaxing. Decor nice, girls were friendly which was nice.

Pool area ok, everything working jacuzzi steam room sauna - pool was a tad cold. All good. I’d definitely recommend a visit if you’re at the hotel.

User

This hotel sits just of the banks of Loch Ard, and the scenery en route is frankly breath-taking. So picturesque.

We stayed over here for one night to relax after getting married, and we enjoyed our stay.

Staff were friendly and professional, and even provided a complimentary bottle of Prosecco after learning of our recent nuptials. A really nice touch.

We enjoyed the use of the leisure facilities, which are great. Although there was little or no activities to keep children entertained. We did stumble upon a disused squash court which had some kids toys in it, but the place was in darkness and it looked a tad like a token effort at trying to provide something without really maintaining it. This is somewhere the hotel can look to improve.

Dinner was excellent, if a tad on the expensive side. I had venison, which I’d highly recommend, and my wife opted for sirloin; which she said was super.

The only factor that’s stopping me from giving a 5 star review is the fact that the hotel is dated in places. Not so much the communal areas or restaurants, but certainly corridors, bathrooms and to a certain extent the bedroom. Although the room was well heated, spacious and had a super view. So there was certainly absolutely nothing wrong with it per se. It just lacked that wow factor.

All in all, super staff, location and food.

User

I really enjoyed stating at the lodges here, we are a large family so had three apartments. The views were amazing from all the rooms and the apartments were a good size. The only downside was the electricity bill at the end. We checked in on Thursday at 6pm and left on Sunday at 11am; the bill for that was £48.00!! Is more expensive than my house for 1 month. When we checked in we were told the there may be a charge but didn't expect that.

User

Came here on Saturday for afternoon tea and spa and treatments. Had a lovely day, all the treatments were great and Hayley the Leisure Manager was fabulous to deal with. We did have to wait quite a while for the afternoon tea and then remind them we were due prosecco before our minibus arrived and ran out of time so maybe a wee communication error somewhere along the way. I would recommend and would definitely use again.

User

Been going to forrest hills for over the last ten years couple of time a year.

Last January they had staffing issues and lack of choice at bar.

It's always been a hit or a miss, this year yesterday I was pleased with the service and general appearances of the rooms and exterior however the breakfast was such a let down! It has changed from buffet to service which is fine until the food comes out cold and not cooked properly. The potato scones are not fried but heated up the bacon was asked for well done but not! I had to pay extra for 2 tiny bits of haggis instead of a full breakfast hmm.

I will be back soon but may speak up next time afterall they know how to get your money off you at the bar.

User

Lovely view and dinner was of a high standard, staff were very nice as well.

Disappointed that the bed sheets were stained of what looked like a bit of blood, this was changed right away and we were apologised too. 2 courses at dinner took nearly 2 hours, did get money off drinks.

These issues were rectified promptly by the staff, first time we have ever had any problems when having a night away.

User

Fantastic location and reception staff were great, however had to wait for 20 mins to be served drinks at rafters bar and it was long waiting times for meals also. Menu for dinner wasn't great either but overall I enjoyed my stay and the room was great. The whole experience wasn't worth £200 for one night though. I also wasnt informed that there would be limited access to parts of the hotel until after I had booked. If these issues were solved then I would have given 5 stars

User

Beautiful location, friendly staff. Booked 1 bedroom lodge but allocated 2 bedroom refurbished lodge....nice surprise. The main reason for just 3 stars is the heating issue. Electricity paid for separately....not aware of this prior to arrival. The bill for 2 nights was £33!!!!!!!!! Half of our normal monthly bill at home. I would question the ‘we make no profit from the electricity’ statement in the lodge brochure.

The lodge was absolutely freezing when we arrived requiring us to put heating on full to heat sufficiently and make it comfortable. The storage heater in the hall didn’t work making going between rooms VERY cold. The bathrooms during refurb have been done with marble flooring....in order to save money we didn’t switch under floor heating on which again made going into the bathroom unpleasant.

Slightly disappointed at lack of welcome pack, no point having krupps coffee machine with no pods and no way of purchasing on site?!

In short....charge more for a ‘luxury’ lodge and cut out the huge bill at checkout.

User

This is a great hotel for weddings.....

Except if you're on a quiet weekend break and you're not told beforehand that you can't eat in the restaurant on a Saturday night- but will have to accept a limited menu in the leisure club.....and the disco will be directly beneath your beautiful expensive room ....and that bagpipers will be performing under the window! No compensation offered after complaining. Find out before booking if your quiet weekend away will be ruined!

Otherwise a great venue for YOUR wedding!

User

The room was lovely and so was the building and the amazing views however definitely not worth the £200 Sunday overnight spa deal - within this deal it was meant to include a bottle of prosseco, dinner, breakfast, over night stay and 2 x 25 minutes Treatments

The dinner quality of food was dreadful, long waiting times for this also. The waiter also tried to charge us for our meal even though it was meant to be included in our deal. No bottle of champagne was given during our stay and the 2 x 25 minute treatments were really only 20 minutes each was rather disappointed to say the least. On top of this £9 for 2 coffees... extremely steep prices!

A shame considering it’s nice location and potential.
