About Macdonald Mcewan Teacher Recruitment

Macdonald McEwan is a recruitment business and recruitment agency for contract and locum Teachers in Scotland.

Macdonald Mcewan Teacher Recruitment Description

Macdonald McEwan started working with Scottish Local Authorities in 2008 supplying Social Workers. It is this relationship that saw us break into the Education market with repeated requests from Clients to source Teachers. In addition to supplying Teachers to Local Authorities, we supply the majority of independent and specials schools.

Types of Vacancies
Contingency Recruitment (Locum or Contract Cover)
Many teachers want the security of a long-term placement. So, if you need a teacher with the right subject and phase to cover an unfilled vacancy, maternity leave or long term absence we can help. We will arrange for our Macdonald McEwan Education teacher to attend an interview and /or a trial day at your school. You can then make an ongoing booking to suit your needs. Approximately 65% of our long term teachers have ended up being offered a permanent post at their schools.
Permanent Recruitment
Register your vacancy with us first before advertising. Our permanent recruitment division is in constant contact with teachers looking for permanent and promoted posts. Each new vacancy registered with us is matched against our database and teachers with the right skills are alerted to all new job opportunities.
1: 1 Tuition
Our tutors are trained not only to deliver one to one tuition but also in the planning, reporting and liaison with the class teacher, all of which have been proven essential to the success of this initiative in raising standards. We also appreciate the need for continuity in assigning a single tutor to an individual pupil.
Macdonald McEwan Education has strict recruitment vetting and safeguarding procedures which we apply to all our teachers and support staff before we send them to schools. Our designated Vetting and Safeguarding Lead is responsible for ensuring that all company procedures and protocol exceed those outlined in statutory guidance by the GTCS.
We are a verified member of the REC and we are required to adhere to the code of Professional Practice – this shows Macdonald McEwan Education to be 100% compliant in all aspects of Vetting and Safeguarding.

Monitoring & Support
Once assigned to a school, Macdonald McEwan Education monitors the progress of every teacher and support staff.
All Macdonald McEwan Education teachers providing long-term cover will be visited in schools at least once a term and sometimes more if the teacher needs that little bit more support. In addition, we ask schools to complete a short but informative assessment on any long-term teachers once a term and on an ad-hoc basis for the daily supply teachers we provide.
Macdonald McEwan Education also provide training and professional development for both its teachers and its support staff on a regular basis. For teachers who have newly arrived from overseas we provide a full induction programme in order to give them all the information they need and thus ease the transition into UK life.
