Malone'S Old Town Hostel (Permanently Closed)

Mattresses need a refresh, can be luck of the draw if you get a good one or not, however, fantastic location, amazingly friendly staff and good pub right next door.

Malone's was easy to reach from the airport, and the staff was friendly! The kitchen and bathrooms were very clean and the free breakfast in the morning was great! The room was comfortable and there was storage to lock my valuables. The only problem I had was my room had a very distict odour that was not pleasant. Also a lot of steep stairs to climb, not fun with a trek pack or a suitcase I would imagine

Checking in to this property was slightly awkward. They keep the front doors open but you still have to buzz to be allowed in the second door. I stood for over half an hour trying to speak to someone at the reception. I ended up going in to the Malones pub to ask someone to let me in.
The hostel itself is nice, and very good value for the location. It would be even better if they offered single sex dorms.
