Mantilla Home Design - Architectural Consultant Description

For more than two decades, Mantilla Home Design has been designing unique and innovative structures, renovating both residential and commercial projects for a wide range of clients. Each project is handled with unique perspective and integrity. Our designs typically combine modern accents with a predominance of natural materials such as wood and stone. In addition, our designs pull the surrounding countryside or gardens into the house, providing a feeling of openness and serenity.

We have completed projects ranging in scale and complexity, from new residences, additions and renovations for single families to industrial office complexes, retail spaces, theaters and cinemas, church reconstructions, equestrian projects and farm houses.

A key factor to our success is our ability to listen to our clients and guide both their functional requirements and aesthetic aspirations from concept through to the final result. Our success is demonstrated through this close working relationship.

Built on a 4 acre plot the purpose here was to design and build a single-storey home with high ceilings and an open outlook. The home was to have an open carport that could be used for sitting out. It also provided the opportunity to create a large storage space that was accessible without going outside.

This was a complete new-build from the ground up with no existing structures in the cattle pasture.

Originally a steel shed for storing a campervan, the owners wanted to re-purpose half of it into a small area for them to spend weekends. The project expanded when they saw the potential and ultimately became a wonderful holiday cottage.
Originally there was an open area for the camper van and a smaller, half-height building within the steel shed. It was a relatively straight forward conversion to extend the height of the building and add an extension to the steel shed. Large, clear garage doors could be opened out of the new living area to enable complete openness of the living to the outside. A wood burning stove was installed with a wonderful feature stone wall on both sides - in the bedroom and the living room. The floors were polished concrete for ease of cleaning along with providing a wonderful feature floor

This project involved cutting a dilapidated wooden house in 2, moving it 20 miles to its new location and then renovating it. It was a wonderful project with a truly fantastic end-result. Hard to imagine that the house at the end is the same house as the one at the start.
By moving the front door into what was previously the kitchen entrance, it allowed us to create 2 bathrooms - 1 en-suite and 1 main bathroom. The accommodation ended up with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room and kitchen with large covered balconies front and rear.

A work-in-progress by Mantilla Home Design. This beautiful B listed building in the UK had a 1970s extension demolished and redesigned, a pellet store attached for the new biomass boiler, a new laundry and bathroom and a glazed porch-way added to the entrance of the East Wing.

Long summer evenings inspire me to work outdoors with natural products. Although we have been recently commissioned to design and construct bespoke furniture for discerning customers, we are especially proud of our latest design - the Brodie Bench. Tomorrow this bench will be placed in the wonderful gardens at Brodie Castle, a lovely National Trust for Scotland property. If you are in the area and would like to come along for tea/coffee and biscuits at noon, please do!
The Brodie Bench will be available for purchase in 2 sizes - 2300mm and 1800mm. Contact us if you would be interested in finding out more about the Brodie Bench. Or, if you have a specific function that you are looking to satisfy with a one-off item of furniture in either your garden or home, give us a call and lets work together to create a piece of art.

A dilapidated 1920s house. Trees growing through the walls, the front porch hanging off, siding missing, but character abounded! Wide oak planks throughout, on walls and floors.
Renovation: The house was cut in half, moved 20 miles on the back of two trucks and repositioned on a wonderful 5 acre property. Both porches were removed and replaced with wide, open porches to the front and back.... The interior was redesigned to provide more a more functional layout and it was completely wired, plumbed and had central air/heat installed.
After completion the accommodation comprised 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a wonderful sitting room with French doors to the back porch and a good sized kitchen with space for a dining table. Hard to believe that something is such dire condition could end up as such a fabulous character-oozing home!
Don't pass up some of these older houses. It's amazing what you can do with them as long as the bones are good and they have character!
