Positive news on our own business systems transition from OHSAS18001 to the new ISO 45001 standard with the recent GAP analysis audit undertaken confirming our updated systems are we are well on track to achieving the new ISO standard later this year. The new standard takes a much more strategic view than the out-going OHSAS 18001 and encourages organisations to take a top-down approach to managing safety. The GAP analysis findings further emphasis McGowan continual commitment, at all levels, in maintaining a safe working environment for both its own staff, and any others who may be affected by the company's activities. #NaturallyDifferent

Time to catch up on a project completed towards the end of 2019 Allanaquoich Bridge replacement, located in the Braemar area which saw the team realign the new bridge location, and approach roads. Final works saw 400tons of rock armour placement to stabilise adjacent riverbank embankments within this highly designated area. Special thanks go out to McGowan's own Ashley McCurry and Cameron Smith for successfully manning our company stand as part of yesterday's Grantown Grammar Careers Day. The day provided pupils the opportunity to meet and engage with local businesses, in order to gain further knowledge on the various trades and workstreams potentially available to them as a future career.
The McGowan remote-controlled excavator and dump truck task also proved a success with the pupils, with the girls proving to be the better operators on the day. #NaturallyDifferent

Work is well underway at Glen Noe Hydro-electric scheme located near Loch Etive. The 2MW run of river hydro scheme project for Innogy Renewables now has multiple operations ongoing with 2.8km of pipeline currently being installed, 3nr intake structures being constructed following initial river diversions and temporary access bridge installation, as well as powerhouse construction now being under way.

Our path team working on Slieve Gullion feature on BBC News NI. Working with Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, the team are currently repairing erosion damage on Slieve Gullion. A variety of techniques are being adopted on site, including the use of sheep fleece, and rushes, to assist in stabilising the new path.
