We were a party of five and all ordered a different meal, each and everyone of them was absolutely perfect and we were well looked after too. We will be back.

The food was fantastic, service was excellent and the atmosphere very friendly and relaxing, especially around the cosy log burner on the big comfy sofas. I spent all 3 evenings of my pre Christmas break in here although tried all the other bars in town so know what they are like by comparison, and McKays just had the prefect balance.

Popped in for food and it was very good. staff where friendly and good at their job.would recommend to anyone and will be back.

Often go to Pitlochry area, walk the dogs at the Hermitage then finish our day with a nice meal from very friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Our dogs sit quietly under the table and have their meal too, brought by us I might add but I wouldn't be surprised if they could russle up a sausage or two if we forget.

My other half and i had a great stay here this weekend..Staff were really friendly and very helpfull.... our little room lovely,clean had everything you needed...food was really good...great choice to choose from,will defo return.

Don't usually leave reviews but I just can't not sing McKays praises enough, so I felt compelled to share my experience. Went in for dinner before visiting the Enchanted Forest, and it was absolutely amazing. The staff were welcoming and accommodating and the food was on a different planet altogether! We had the haggis nachos to share as a starter, and they were excellent. Just the right amount of everything! I had the steak pie and my partner had the bacon cheese burger and we were both throughly impressed. As someone who has worked in hospitality, I would highly recommend this gem of a place and we will definitely be back when we are next through. Great atmosphere and just all round great experience.

Brilliant clean very inviting restaurant, and what a lovely way to spend the day loved the fact that they allow dogs in and are most welcoming. Food was amazing John's favourite meal steak pie and he has had tried a lot of steak pies over the years he rated it 10 out of 10 I also had steak pie and it was very nice. I would go back in a heartbeat.

A Bar & restaurant located in Pitlochry itself. The bar itself sells a various variety of beverages to cater for all tastes served by the friendly bar staff. It also serves up quality bisto food again with a varied selection to water anyone’s pailleté. McKay’s also has live sport as well as live music in the bar, with pool table. Situated through the back there’s a bar with host BIG screen sports action too. A very friendly & cosmopolitan clientele & locals.

Went to McKays on Friday for a meal we ordered drinks and our food order after around 20 minutes my wife asked one of the staff about our order then one of the staff came over and said the girl hadn't ordered it he apologised and asked if we still wanted our food we said yes.when the food came it was very good and when we paid the bill they had took money off the bill we went back on Saturday and the service and food were second to none see you all soon Brian&margaret

Lovely food, nice friendly staff, lovely fire on a cold dank day. Stayed ages. Only let down was ladies a tad whiffy. There is no excuse for smelly toilets, especially as it was quiet and there were spare staff, shame as otherwise 100% for this place. :-)

After been let down by other accommodation and landing on their doorstep in the evening looking for somewhere to stay, the manager couldn't have been more helpful. Managed to find room for 5 people and even threw in breakfast. Thank you so much for your hospitality, it would have been a crazy journey home in the snow otherwise (You lose a star though for providing my friend with pyjamas that she didn't want!)

Stayed overnight on the 25th, room as spotless but extremely small have seen bigger bathrooms in a static caravan, shower also lacked any power, breakfast was lovely and staff could not have been more helpful, but same can't be said for the restaurant staff!Went for dinner in the restaurant on the Sunday night, had to ask the bar for menus, when someone eventually came over to take our order the server could not speak very good English so took our order by us pointing at the menu we ordered a starter to share, my husband ordered from the "specials" menu and I ordered from the normal menu. 5 minutes after we placed our order the server then came back to tell us my husband could not get what he ordered not even bothering to bring a menu over so my husband could pick something else he just had to order the only thing he could remember off the menu, the server then asked me to write out the order as he did not know how too!! He then brought out our mains first to which I reminded him we had ordered a starter to which he barked back its coming next when I said I wasn't want my main served with the starter he took the mains back came out with the starter and walked away, he then came over and asked if he could bring our mains out, when he came back with the mains we never even got asked if we needed sauces etc and we were never approached to see if our meal was ok or if we wanted more drinks. Whilst in the restaurant I noticed the staff where more concerned with speaking to their friends than serving the guests one girl stood talking to her friend the whole time her friend sat and ate her meal, 3 of the staff stood at the front of the restaurant talking and mucking around whilst a queue formed at the bar the woman who was first in the queue stood for a good 5 minutes before anyone came back to serve and even then the shouted over the bar talking to the other staff rather than interact with the person they were serving. don't think I would hurry back and would not recommend to anyone

Went to the new chip shop. It was awful! Paper plates, wooden forks and knives, no tumblers for cans of juice and - no sauce. The fish was okay- but the chips were really bad. Vastly overpriced and people were checking the prices and waiting time - then leaving. Wouldn’t return - ever!

Disappointed to find when I turned back the duvet someone's pyjamas were still in the bed and a cotton handkerchief. Would indicate to me the sheets were not fresh. I didn't shower as not sure if towels had been used by previous guest.



On checking out the young guy apologised, said it had never happened before. No offer of reduction of bill or discount on next stay.



Sadly won't be back.

This won't be a good review I'm afraid. We were a party of four and arrived and were shown to our table. That was more or less where the service ended. We ordered our drinks and food. Nachos, the wee plougman's and a chicken sandwich. Nacho chips were extremely soggy which just made the whole dish look like a dog's dinner and the sandwich was stale and dry. Main complaint is of service levels. The waitress left our finished plates on the table for more than half an hour after we had finished. I had to get up and put my plate on another empty table and she noticed me doing this, but it didn't make her come and take the other plates away. She did come and leave the bill but didn't come back for it so we had to pay at the bar. Needless to say no tip was given. We noticed as we left the restaurant that she was walking over towards our table to I assume to remove the other plates which had been lying there for most likely up to an hour. No management presence so staff appear to do their own thing. There's a few similar bars like this on the main street of Pitlochry so we won't be back there.

Booked for 1 night here tomorrow Sunday 4th March, had to cancel 48 hours before hand due to the adverse weather conditions as we are travelling 4 hours from the Scottish Borders, the hotel will not refund us any of the money which I think on this extreme weather occasion is very disappointing, it just shows you there more interested in money rather than looking at the bigger picture here. They offered us another booking but possibly not at the same rate, that’s not very helpful when holidays And time off work is rare, I for one will not be bothering to book again due to there backwards view of this situation, they can’t even be bothered to reply to messages via there Facebook chat either, so disappointed in them, I’ll be booking a different hotel next time we come skiing .

Accommodation is mediocre in our 2nd room as 1st was what can only be described as a scene from a brothel and baltic second room holes in duvet burns on floor rips in paper tiny absoulute disgrace staff are a joke and very unhelpful food is quite simply over priced small and tasteless all in all this place is a joke staff dont respond to complaints its actually put me off ever coming back to a lovely village pitlochry you would atleast think the staff would try to rectify something or offer something in the way of compensation but no they dont avoid unless you want to be disgusted

Disgraceful place and appalling staff.

This won't be a good review I'm afraid. We were a party of four and arrived and were shown to our table. That was more or less where the service ended. We ordered our drinks and food. Nachos, the wee plougman's and a chicken sandwich. Nacho chips were extremely soggy which just made the whole dish look like a dog's dinner and the sandwich was stale and dry. Main complaint is of service levels. The waitress left our finished plates on the table for more than half an hour after we had finished. I had to get up and put my plate on another empty table and she noticed me doing this, but it didn't make her come and take the other plates away. She did come and leave the bill but didn't come back for it so we had to pay at the bar. Needless to say no tip was given. We noticed as we left the restaurant that she was walking over towards our table to I assume to remove the other plates which had been lying there for most likely up to an hour. No management presence so staff appear to do their own thing. There's a few similar bars like this on the main street of Pitlochry so we won't be back there.

Booked for 1 night here tomorrow Sunday 4th March, had to cancel 48 hours before hand due to the adverse weather conditions as we are travelling 4 hours from the Scottish Borders, the hotel will not refund us any of the money which I think on this extreme weather occasion is very disappointing, it just shows you there more interested in money rather than looking at the bigger picture here. They offered us another booking but possibly not at the same rate, that’s not very helpful when holidays And time off work is rare, I for one will not be bothering to book again due to there backwards view of this situation, they can’t even be bothered to reply to messages via there Facebook chat either, so disappointed in them, I’ll be booking a different hotel next time we come skiing .

Accommodation is mediocre in our 2nd room as 1st was what can only be described as a scene from a brothel and baltic second room holes in duvet burns on floor rips in paper tiny absoulute disgrace staff are a joke and very unhelpful food is quite simply over priced small and tasteless all in all this place is a joke staff dont respond to complaints its actually put me off ever coming back to a lovely village pitlochry you would atleast think the staff would try to rectify something or offer something in the way of compensation but no they dont avoid unless you want to be disgusted

We were a party of five and all ordered a different meal, each and everyone of them was absolutely perfect and we were well looked after too. We will be back.

The food was fantastic, service was excellent and the atmosphere very friendly and relaxing, especially around the cosy log burner on the big comfy sofas. I spent all 3 evenings of my pre Christmas break in here although tried all the other bars in town so know what they are like by comparison, and McKays just had the prefect balance.

Popped in for food and it was very good. staff where friendly and good at their job.would recommend to anyone and will be back.

Often go to Pitlochry area, walk the dogs at the Hermitage then finish our day with a nice meal from very friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Our dogs sit quietly under the table and have their meal too, brought by us I might add but I wouldn't be surprised if they could russle up a sausage or two if we forget.

My other half and i had a great stay here this weekend..Staff were really friendly and very helpfull.... our little room lovely,clean had everything you needed...food was really good...great choice to choose from,will defo return.

Don't usually leave reviews but I just can't not sing McKays praises enough, so I felt compelled to share my experience. Went in for dinner before visiting the Enchanted Forest, and it was absolutely amazing. The staff were welcoming and accommodating and the food was on a different planet altogether! We had the haggis nachos to share as a starter, and they were excellent. Just the right amount of everything! I had the steak pie and my partner had the bacon cheese burger and we were both throughly impressed. As someone who has worked in hospitality, I would highly recommend this gem of a place and we will definitely be back when we are next through. Great atmosphere and just all round great experience.

Brilliant clean very inviting restaurant, and what a lovely way to spend the day loved the fact that they allow dogs in and are most welcoming. Food was amazing John's favourite meal steak pie and he has had tried a lot of steak pies over the years he rated it 10 out of 10 I also had steak pie and it was very nice. I would go back in a heartbeat.

A Bar & restaurant located in Pitlochry itself. The bar itself sells a various variety of beverages to cater for all tastes served by the friendly bar staff. It also serves up quality bisto food again with a varied selection to water anyone’s pailleté. McKay’s also has live sport as well as live music in the bar, with pool table. Situated through the back there’s a bar with host BIG screen sports action too. A very friendly & cosmopolitan clientele & locals.

Went to McKays on Friday for a meal we ordered drinks and our food order after around 20 minutes my wife asked one of the staff about our order then one of the staff came over and said the girl hadn't ordered it he apologised and asked if we still wanted our food we said yes.when the food came it was very good and when we paid the bill they had took money off the bill we went back on Saturday and the service and food were second to none see you all soon Brian&margaret

Lovely food, nice friendly staff, lovely fire on a cold dank day. Stayed ages. Only let down was ladies a tad whiffy. There is no excuse for smelly toilets, especially as it was quiet and there were spare staff, shame as otherwise 100% for this place. :-)

After been let down by other accommodation and landing on their doorstep in the evening looking for somewhere to stay, the manager couldn't have been more helpful. Managed to find room for 5 people and even threw in breakfast. Thank you so much for your hospitality, it would have been a crazy journey home in the snow otherwise (You lose a star though for providing my friend with pyjamas that she didn't want!)

Stayed overnight on the 25th, room as spotless but extremely small have seen bigger bathrooms in a static caravan, shower also lacked any power, breakfast was lovely and staff could not have been more helpful, but same can't be said for the restaurant staff!Went for dinner in the restaurant on the Sunday night, had to ask the bar for menus, when someone eventually came over to take our order the server could not speak very good English so took our order by us pointing at the menu we ordered a starter to share, my husband ordered from the "specials" menu and I ordered from the normal menu. 5 minutes after we placed our order the server then came back to tell us my husband could not get what he ordered not even bothering to bring a menu over so my husband could pick something else he just had to order the only thing he could remember off the menu, the server then asked me to write out the order as he did not know how too!! He then brought out our mains first to which I reminded him we had ordered a starter to which he barked back its coming next when I said I wasn't want my main served with the starter he took the mains back came out with the starter and walked away, he then came over and asked if he could bring our mains out, when he came back with the mains we never even got asked if we needed sauces etc and we were never approached to see if our meal was ok or if we wanted more drinks. Whilst in the restaurant I noticed the staff where more concerned with speaking to their friends than serving the guests one girl stood talking to her friend the whole time her friend sat and ate her meal, 3 of the staff stood at the front of the restaurant talking and mucking around whilst a queue formed at the bar the woman who was first in the queue stood for a good 5 minutes before anyone came back to serve and even then the shouted over the bar talking to the other staff rather than interact with the person they were serving. don't think I would hurry back and would not recommend to anyone

Went to the new chip shop. It was awful! Paper plates, wooden forks and knives, no tumblers for cans of juice and - no sauce. The fish was okay- but the chips were really bad. Vastly overpriced and people were checking the prices and waiting time - then leaving. Wouldn’t return - ever!

Disappointed to find when I turned back the duvet someone's pyjamas were still in the bed and a cotton handkerchief. Would indicate to me the sheets were not fresh. I didn't shower as not sure if towels had been used by previous guest.



On checking out the young guy apologised, said it had never happened before. No offer of reduction of bill or discount on next stay.



Sadly won't be back.

Manager isnt doing her job as she never even flinched or tried to fix the problem. Came for a birthday night away and it has ruined it. Will never be back!
