Sad day today as we wish farewell to Dr Matt Cousins. Matt has been a joy to have at the practice this last year, we will all miss that cheeky smile and his ‘Love Island’ chat!! We wish him all the best in his upcoming hospital position and future career. 👍x!

Our lovely nurse Lauren is finishing up today on maternity leave. We wish Lauren and her fiancé Michael all the best, we can’t wait to meet their baby boy soon.

This amazing case below shows just what can be achieved with a change in diet, improved oral hygiene and a commitment to regular attendance for dental appointments. Oh and of course some lovely dentistry!!
This patient attended our Holytown practice towards the end of last year, he assumed many of his teeth would need extracted and had been putting off coming to the dentist for that very reason. He was very embarrassed by his teeth and rarely smiled for photos.
Dr Matt Cous...ins has worked with him to turn around his attitude to his oral health by reducing the number of high sugar fizzy drinks, improving the brushing / oral hygiene and attending regularly to achieve these wonderful results. All of this work was carried out under the NHS and much of the natural teeth have been restored. It is still a work in progress, but his patient is delighted with the transformation so far and is working hard at maintaining these results. He reports his confidence has soared and he’s smiling much more often.
Matt presented this case ( with his patient’s full consent) to his peers last week and was delighted to win first prize in his group.

CPR training this morning at our Holytown practice. A skill we train in yearly, yet hope to never have to use!
We have one dentist at Holytown available to see emergencies and will be open as usual from 2pm. Newarthill running as normal.

A lovely example below of a ceramic bonded to metal private crown, carried out for one of our Holytown patients. Crowns / onlays are the restoration of choice when too much of the natural structure of the tooth has been lost and it can’t retain filling material. You can see below the natural aesthetic look gained with the ceramic approach, in comparison with the metal filling in the tooth previously. Our patient was delighted with the end result.

****UPDATE****UPDATE***** Due to the severe weather we are having to make the unprecedented decision to close both practices today. Many of our staff and Dentists have been unable to get through the snow. One dentist and nurse are braving the elements to try get to Holytown for 10am to see EMERGENCIES only, until 12.30pm.
All non emergency appointments are therefore cancelled. We will be in touch tomorrow or Monday to reschedule these.

Due to the red weather warning for snow, we are closing both practices from 3pm today to allow our staff to get home safely. Thank you so much to Mark the dentist, nurse and lovely receptionist for quickly seeing my daughter and fixing her front tooth following a sledging accident. Your time and patience was greatly appreciated and my girl has her lovely smile back.

Really helpful, the full team are lovely. Do anything they can to help you and happily accommodate you when your in a lot of pain. Matt and Jim are brilliant! Wouldn’t go anywhere else now.

My husband I have been going to this dentist for a while now I was always scared of dentists but as soon as we walked through the door everyone was so nice and friendly and Mr McManus and Shad spoke me through what was going to happen and completely put me at ease I would definately highly recommend...

I've had issues with teeth grinding and clenching my teeth most of my life. I've had operations to attempt to fix the damage done, Gerry at the Holytown branch has made me a splint to help with the issue. I've had it 2 weeks now, it alters how my muscles are positioned at night. It only took 4 nights for the pain to stop, I've had no pain since, I can't thank him enough.

I've been with a few dentists over the years and McManus and Scott dentists is by far the best.

I've been a patient for years now, can't recommend enough Jim the dentist is amazing 10/10 first class. Staff are fantastic make you feel at ease especially when you are nervous, thanks again guys xx

I would like to thank Calum for looking after my daughter through her journey of getting 4 teeth out Calum made my daughter feel at ease and explained everything to her thanks again Calum

I was here on Friday at 2.30 with Danielle and got root canal treatment...I can't honestly thank her and the dental assistant enough! They were sooo understanding of my fear of the dentist..they were both just sooo nice and made me feel at ease :) thanks again x

I attended today. This was the first time I had been to a dentist in over 18 years due to a pretty bad dental phobia.

I had the most understanding consultation I could have hoped for with the lovely leeAnne. The dental nurses were very understanding too.

I left having had two extractions, badly needed, and an appointment to go back next week.

Wish I had found this practice or had the courage to attend earlier

Hadnt been to the dentist 4 a long time due to a bad experience that left me very apprehensive paul has been very professional explaining each procedure n treatment pain free i will be attending future appointments with no anxiety

Fantastic staff and very friendly dentists. Nothings to good for them to do for you. I’m disabled so need some help and they do everything they can to help me. 10 out of 10 for care and treatment.
