We had a great time at the cottages. We stayed in the Shetland.
There’s a few things I would say to improve; the sofa needs replacing as it’s broken and not comfy to sit on. WiFi doesn’t work and usually I wouldn’t care about this but it poured down and at night that may have been helpful to let the kids watch a movie on Netflix or something on their iPads. No channels except 1-5 & their spin off channels. I still give 5 stars because these things don’t make a holiday for me I just think this could help with overall experience.
The hot tub was amazing and the whole place was clean and tidy. If it hadn’t rained constantly we could have gone and looked at the new lambs and mooched around the farm.
Plenty of places to visit in the area. We’ll def come back, but in the summer time. �
We are just on our way home from a long weekend at Meiklebob Cottages... And what a great weekend it has been! �� The cottage was lovely, the garden was huge and ideal for our dog Nina to explore, and the hottub was a great way to relax with a wee fizz! �� We even got good weather to sit out and enjoy playing some cards!! � We will definitely be back and are already planning a big family weekend away here! Thank you for a peaceful and relaxing break away � xx
We are just back from our second visit to Meiklebob Cottages and this time we took the husbands and children for a wee winter break between Xmas and New Year. We stayed in the Suffolk Cottage and also the Sweetheart Cottage and again we were not disappointed. Cottages are always clean on arrival. Kids loved the hot tub and the Suffolk is a great size for a large group looking forward to returning again xx
We are just back from a stay at Meiklebob!! Loved it there! Two feral 3 year olds loved the location & all the lovely animals. The cottages were immaculate & as soon as the kids were asleep, we made very good use of the relaxing hot tub!!!! Highlights of the stay: ‘cheeky goat’ - the dark coloured bully-boy goat tried to nibble our wee boy’s top...his reaction was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen � The boys keep talking about ‘cheeky goat’ & nibbling each other’s jumpers!! We also saw two red kites!! Beautiful.
The wee puppies, piglets & baby goats were super cute!!! I wish the weather had been better so we could have explored the beautiful landscape more...ach well - we’ll just need to arrange our next trip here! �
We absolutely loved it. The Hereford cottage and relaxed atmosphere were perfect for us. Great room sizes and facilities. The weather was poor but the break was excellent, just too short but we will be back. Hopefully we can make use of the outdoor table and chairs next time. The garden area is perfect for children to play in. Mine are grown now but would have enjoyed it.
My family loved the hot tub rain or no rain, we were getting wet anyway, I don't normally use one but I'm so glad that I did. It was lovely to look at the stars from it.
I've written a few reviews for Meiklebob on other sites and thought I had for Facebook too. It's not showing, probably an internet blip, so I had to write this straight away, sorry for delay.

Stayed here back in April and loved my stay! I came here with my boyfriend and another couple and we had an amazing time! The cottage was great and had everything you would need! And the hot tub was a nice treat! The farmer was really kind and let us feed the lamb which was a nice extra! Would definitely stay here again!
Recently stayed in the badger cottage with 5 others. Absolutely loved it, great location, great price and the cottage was clean, well kept and had everything we needed. Some of the furniture needs some slight attention but nothing major. We had a small issue with midges at dusk but to be expected given the current dry spells and location. We met Alex on the first day who welcomed us to the badger cottage he was very welcoming and allowed us to wonder around the farm as we pleased. Was 100% worth the drive from Yorkshire and would definitely go back again! Thanks for a great stay!!
Our second visit to the Threave cottage and it was just as good as the first. Although storm 'Brian' tried to do its best to dampen our weekend we had a great time in the cottage and enjoyed chilling out in the hot tub (we even got a gap in the clouds to enjoy the amazing star display that we haven't experienced anywhere else!). Dane and Alex were so helpful -especially when our lighter gave up and we needed our log fire started. We will definitely be back �
My friends and i have just got back from a lovely weekend break staying in the gorgeous Vista cottage. It was lovely and clean throughout with the best views. The only thing i wish they had had was a parasol or something so we could sit out without getting burnt. But that is half our fault for not bringing sun cream, we didn't realise it was going to be so hot! The farmer was lovely too and so helpful! We will definitely be back x
Lovely setup. Well laid out cottages, finished to a high standard. Friendly and helpful staff.

Just got back from an amazing Easter break. Had a fantastic time with the children (aged 1-9) they all loved it. The hot tub was a big hit. We were even in it in the rain. Accommodation was as lovely and clean. The farmer was so friendly and let the children feed the lambs and meet the puppies. Would definitely visit again. Thank you.
Just back from a weekend break at Meiklebob, I would thoroughly recommend the place to anyone. Stayed in Hereford cottage, Great location we enjoyed our strolls down to the river through the fields. My son loved the goats one even followed us part way. Plenty for kids to see and do, The hot tub was a great bonus. We would definitely return.
Just back from a weekend Away at meiklebob. It did not disappoint. This is the 3rd time we've been now last time we stayed in sweetheart cottage we got engaged �. This time we brought our friends to the lapwing cottage and it was just amazing, great views, great cottage with the bonus of the hot tub. Thank you again meiklebob it was great. It's that good that I'm back again with the girls in March � xxx
I have been here 3 times now. Twice on my own with my 3 kids and once i brought my mum dad sis and kids.
Love love love it.
Laid back, kids free to roam, Alex fab with kids.
We always make friends and have great time. Cottages to a very high standard and beds n bathrooms so luxurious.
Fantastic place for a holiday or short break. Beautiful, cosy, well equipped cottages, fantastic hot tub, stunning scenery, great base for exploring and really lovely, helpful owners. Alex was an absolute gem, felt very welcome, couldn’t have done more, so helpful and a really lovely guy. Highly recommend Meiklebob.
Fabulous stay here during the week, only fault would be that the hot tub jets weren't quite right. Left wishing we'd booked a longer stay, and feel you could spend a lot of time there easily. Nice comfy bed and clean cottage, beautiful surroundings and enjoyed seeing the animals around us. Hope to return soon for longer!
Cannot highly recommend this place for a relaxing family break enough! We had an absolute ball over new year ��� the cottage was so cosy and amazing and the hot tub went down a treat! Plenty of things to do as little villages are close by! My 1 year old loved the animals down on the farm will be back ASAP and hopefully plan to spend Christmas here! �����
Had a lovely stay at Meiklebob last weekend with friends. We were pleased to have been able to rebook when we couldn’t come during the heavy snowfall earlier in the year.
We stayed in Vista cottage which was great for six of us. The location was lovely and we enjoyed the animals on the farm.
The cottage is however in need of some upgrades. The sofa was worn and the springs were burst so it was hard to find a relaxing seat. The bathrooms were also in need of some tlc.
Would love to come again if a few things were updated.
