About Meikleour Fishings

Meikleour Fishings offer one of the best salmon fishing experience on the Tay. We like to accommodate both skilled and unskilled anglers alike.

Meikleour Fishings Description

Upper Islamouth and Meikleour House Beats are from January 2014 fished together as one beat, six days per week throughout the season.
Set in the heart of glorious Perthshire, approximately one hour's drive North of Edinburgh and 20 minutes from Perth, the Upper Islamouth & Meikleour House Beat is one of the best beats of the Tay and arguably the most pictureque.

We have 2 boats, two ghillies and two fishing huts, one at Meikleour Houseand one at Ferry cottage, to accommodate two fishing parties simultaneously, or a single party of 6 rods. Our knowledgeable ghillies advise and assist your party where required and are happy to accommodate both skilled and unskilled anglers alike. They also teach successfully to complete beginners, young and less young, and our comfortable set-up and stunning surroundings make the learning that more enjoyable.
To check price and availability go to our website http://www. islamouth. co. uk / or call Betty on 01250883424 (from 9am to 4pm)
We look forward to seeing you on the river!

It's a fine start to the day! Rain to the west of the catchment has seen the river rise steadily all night and it's currently sitting at 1.08m on the SEPA gauge at Caputh. That's a great height for us so fingers crossed for the rod that's fishing as part of the The Scottish Fishing Passport scheme.

Well done to Mr Alex MacPhee catching this 14lb'er this morning - his first ever salmon 👍

The river is at a great height for the beat and the clarity is ideal after the spate on Saturday. Here's hoping it's a good week for the river. Tight lines to everyone fishing this week 🎣

We're off the mark with a 14lbs springer on a Rapala from Islamouth a few minutes ago. The river has dropped a couple of feet from its peak last night and clarity is improving. River level 1.40m at Caputh.

Always fascinating to watch: teaching kelt to be hungry again and gradually recondition them. The Kelt Reconditioning Unit in Almondbank is entirely financed by the Tay District proprietors through levies paid to the Board. So when our guests buy a fishing ticket, catch and release a fish they all contribute to this worthy project. Thank you and keep on fishing! Claire x PS: the M&S cooked prawns are their favourite, I will certainly bring some bags when I am at the hatchery next week. Somehow it is easier than feeding a fussy 2 year old wee human being 😉

A change of scenery for us yesterday as we joined Scott Mason of the Scottish Fishing Passport for the opening of the River Teith.
The Scottish Fishing Passport gives its members access to fishing throughout the country. Further details can be found here.
