Melrose Bowling Club Description

MELROSE BOWLING CLUB

Melrose Bowling Club was formed way back in 1868, and remains picturesquely situated on it's original site on the Weirhill, not far from the Town Centre. From here we are privileged to overlook four of the towns most historic landmarks - The 3 Eildon Hills, The River Tweed, The Ancient Abbey of Melrose and the Greenyards (Home to Melrose RFC - the birthplace of Rugby Sevens).

We are a Mixed Club with Gents, Ladies & Seniors Teams competing in their respective Border League Competitions. Though the membership numbers are not huge, given the size of our town, we are nonetheless fiercely competitive, and can proudly boast significant successes over the years.

Our Gents Team have been Border League Champions on no less than four occasions since 2001, have lifted the Annual Knock-Out League Cup three times, and most recently became the first club ever from the Borders District to win the National Inter-County Top Ten Title - when we were crowned Scottish Champions in June 2013.

Our Ladies side also secured their first Border League title in 2009.

As a small club, from a Borders Town with a population of less than 2000, Melrose BC certainly does repeatedly "punch" well above its weight, and we have regularly provided successful SBA (Men) and SWBA (Women) District Champions for the Annual National Finals @ Northfield, Ayr - and indeed won the Scottish Gents Pairs National Championship in 2003.

We extend a sincere and warm welcome both to visitors and to new members looking to join us, and who wish to enjoy a game and our hospitality
