Wonderful quiet place excellent for a lovely relaxing weekend - even with a wedding going on. Breakfast very good and evening meal also was a high standard in the cellar Bistro

What an experience. Thestaff is fantastic. The setting and room were dream like. Highly recommend staying here when in Edinburgh!!!!!

We stayed here last night for our wedding anniversary & i honestly cannot fault the place. Our room was amazing with a four poster bed. Our dinner was fabulous & we received a special Anniversary sweet on the house too. We also got a free bottle of wine to take to our room after our meal. Breakfast was really good too, plenty choice, both the continental buffet & the hot breakfast. The staff in the restaraunt cannot do enough for you & the reception staff are very friendly too. This was our 2nd time at this hotel & we will definitely be back.

We have just arrived back from our stay, my husband had booked it for my birthday as a surprise when we arrived and the receptionist found out it was my birthday she gave us the superior double instead which was beautiful 4 poster bed and beautiful furniture. We had a lovely 3 course meal which was outstanding quality. The grounds around the castle were fantastic. Well what can I say about the breakfast, there was everything you could think of the staff kept topping your hot drinks up. You made my birthday very special thank you to all the lovely staff who made us feel welcome and we will be back soon

We had an overnight stay here on Thursday night, our room was on the ground floor room No. 3. We could not fault it. We had a sitting area downstairs and stairs leading up to a balcony bedroom. The staff could not have been more helpful, the food was excellent. Would recommend this nice quiet relaxing place to stay. My only initial problem was finding the entrance to the castle, as our sat nav. Was telling us we were there when infact we were on the bridge above the driveway to the castle, but the helpful receptionist helped us to find it after a telephone call to them.

We celebrated our wedding on the 19th August 2017. Melville Castle was a perfect Venue and the staff went extra lengths to make sure our day was perfect! I Highly recommend Melville Castle for a wedding venue. All our family and friends loved the day and all guests staying over the night of the wedding were very happy and breakfast was amazing!!

The staff at this castle are by far the best!! They went above and beyond to help me in every way!! They are incredibly accommodating, professional, and friendly. Never have I felt more at home away from home. Thank you to each staff member!! You are exceptional!!!

So on Saturday the 26th of August I got married to my best friend. There are no words to describe how amazing the staff were with us. John the main man in Melville made our day! Amazing lovely guy who made sure my new husband and I still had some quiet time during our big day. Melville castle thank you! Fiona our wedding co odinator thank you! John thank you! You have no idea how special you made us feel!

If I were to make an suggestion of improvement it would be to maybe switch up the breakfast to include something different each day. Like waffles or pancakes or a warm porrtidge.

My husband and I had our wedding day at the castle on the 14 April 2017. I would just like to thank the staff especially John and James on the day! I would also like to thank Amy who stepped in after the wedding coordinator left a month before our wedding and I have to say Amy made things happen that we were previously told couldn't and was very accommodating as to what we wanted. The staff at reception reserved rooms for early check in on the wedding day so that guests who travelled up could get ready in their rooms. They also offered to serve breakfast upstairs to my grandad who thought might not make the stairs to the main restaurant. This venue is truly magical and all my guests including myself and husband had the best day! I was a little worried about having a band with the sound limiter in the marquee but the sound was perfect! Loud enough to hear and dance but not to loud that you couldn't hear yourselves speak. There were a couple of communication issues that hadn't been passed on but was nothing major and nothing that couldn't not be fixed. I would definitely recommend this venue to couples considering it!

My fiance and I had an amazing 2 night break at the castle. I couldn't get her to leave the place the whole break. Beautiful surroundings, beautiful room and the staff were absolutely amazing. Definitely will be back again and can't wait.

A stunning setting, beautiful room, incredible food & helpful, friendly staff. The grounds are lovely for a walk around & full of interesting carvings to spot.

Overall a fantastic experience and we will definitely be back!

Just had our wedding at this fantastic venue could not praise the place high enough, simply outstanding from start to finish Special mentions to Fiona for keeping us right on the lead up to the wedding and helping set things on the day and day before. Also to our master of ceremonies John your a diamond, made Carol and I relaxed throughout the whole day, nothing was too much trouble throughout the whole process. The food was also exceptional 5 star quality, we will be back soon and would recommend Melville Castle to everyone.

Just got back from a fabulous stay at the castle, we stayed in a superior double with 4 poster, it was beautiful even my husband was impressed with the lovely smell of the room every time you entered (he even searched for a plug-in lol). The food was amazing from the breakfast to amazing evening meals. We were there to celebrate our pearl wedding anniversary, and when we arrived back to our room after a day out they had left us a complimentary bottle of prosecco which finished off our day lovely. The staff were all lovely especially the waiter who served us our breakfast and evening meal, and the bar staff who doubled up on reception. Would definitely stay again. Thank you Melville Castle x

I have stayed at Melville Castle many times, and cannot fault it one bit. The food is incredible, the rooms are gorgeous and it truly is a wonderful castle.

Mainly though, all the staff are fantastic! Timea and John are always proving their exceptional hospitality and kindness. I thoroughly enjoy coming here and feel extremely welcomed. I can't wait to come back again soon! 10/10 *****

Had our daughter's wedding at Melville Castle yesterday. What a lovely day, staff were excellent, so attentive and friendly. Meal was very good. Room we had was lovely with a four poster bed. Would highly recommend if looking for a wedding venue.

Had a fabulous stay in this historic castle. The sweeping 1/2 mile wooded driveway opens up to the great castle that has been around since 1152, played quite a part around Mary Queen of Scots time.



The rooms are nice and comfortable with great showers, spotlessly clean! The food is excellent, served by great guys in a fascinating restaurant.



Unbelievable to think that the hotel is only 20 minutes from Edinburgh and just off the road network.



Fabulous wedding venue, superb marquee and they can do exclusive use. Great place to stay.

I'm sure it would be a wonderful place for a wedding. The Castle is a great backdrop, it's beautiful. The grounds look great until you try out one of the paths, very unkept. I was, however, looking forward to my room. But my wife and I were booked in the attic. It was small and cozy, yet, not what I expected for the price. The bed was small. The box spring was stained and mattress inadequate.

The staff was minimal and overwhelmed at times.

I will give credit where it's due and I'm here to tell you that the temperature and pressure of the shower water was exquisite. Highlight of my stay!
