I was looking to upgrade my flashguns but in the end despite him taking new guns out of boxes and trying them for me there was no real solution to be had.

The gentlemen in this shop want you to get a good deal, they want you to enjoy your camera and they want to help you with your photography, they know that this gets them repeat business and I'm more than happy to support that. Damn right this place gets 5 stars from me. I work 100 yards from Jessops on Buchanan Street but I ain't going back there. If you have a question the guys in Merchant City Cameras will answer you honestly, they give great advice, they don't judge you how odd or uniformed your questions are, they stock a lot more than you'd think a shop that size could. I went in with a specific camera in mind, they guy went out his way to make sure it was definitely the one for me, and by this I don't mean he tried to show me other cameras, he just gave me the run down on what it does and what it's good for, then he showed me how to make use of it's specific features and agreed that I had the right camera in mind. I have nothing negative to say about this shop.

Went in to-day looking for a resolution to a firmware issue and a damaged lens filter. Both issues resolved extremely efficiently. Great customer service pleasant and friendly service. I am a repeat customer and tend to continue to use them.

I went in with my Nikon FM3A 35mm slr in order to have the focusing screen cleaned. The chap was very unhelpful, rude and discourteous. He informed me that they could not not do it as it required specialist tools. Specialist tools being tweezers! This was not a repair job, just a clean. I am surprised with the very poor service I recieved as other reviewers appear to have had excellent service. I left the shop feeling quite deflated. If you do not like people just get another job where you do not have to deal with them.

Friendly, informed staff. I was looking for a new lens which they had in stock. They allowed me to spend a long time with it on my camera, testing speed and accuracy of focus and sharpness across the frame.

Eventually I said I would buy it. To my surprise they then, without asking me, did an internet search and price-matched to the lowest they could find.

This type of behaviour eats into their profits, but the upside for them is that they are now my go-to shop for all things camera related. You can't get this type of service on-line. 5-stars.

Great local camera shop. Often the same price as online shops. Amazing advice and a friendly service!

It's also nice that when you mention pentax they don't turn their noses up at you :)
