We have now stayed here on quite a few occasions. If you get a deal it is worth a visit. Town centre with a car park is a bonus. Food very good . A bit tired but staff great.

It's almost like the company that owns the hotel knows the it needs work but it needs that much work they don't bother.
The staff are good but you can tell they are trying their best in now I think about it...we paid £90 for one night and that was a late deal!! it's not worth that money it's like stepping back in time you can see that at one point it was probably this amazing a high-end luxury hotel but that was like 20 odd year ago.
They've tried with the rooms with 2 floating bedside cabnets but their that far away from the bed u wave your arm in the night to find it haha it's not helping and I can sleep rough at times but the beds jeez o man pressure points or what I'd opt into the car or floor first. Every lamp shade is squint and the old school bathroom suite is past it. Power showers okay but theirs no real pressure and theirs no minibar or fridge not even a cheap biscuit with your twinnings tea bags which you get 1 of each flavour so you better like everyday and eral grey.
I had no real problem with cleanliness it's one of those places you walk in and get what its all about a relatively safe bet yes but you get what you get and that's all don't pay more than like £60-70...wouldn't know how much a rooms worth but I feel mildly shafted it has location but not much else I'm writing this at 6am to pass the time the backs killer right now haha
As far as Ayr goes it's not what it used to be it has some shops mostly shut down highstreet besides the beach and you can have a nice meal but it's not much better than your own high street I feel I had more selection back home

Booked Mercure for a 40th wedding anniversary in August. Firstly on the night there was little or no air conditioning and since there was 150 guests invited people were feeling the heat. Secondly for the number of guests there was 1 staff member on the bar which caused large queues at one point no drinks could be served as there was no change in the till. Thirdly we paid £900 for a sub standard buffet of sandwiches, potato wedges, satay sticks and under cooked sausage rolls which had to be sent back. There certainly wasn't enough for the amount of guests. Although there was certain drinks reduced the price of drink was still high. I sent an email with my list of complaints only to receive an email with an apology, no offer of any kind of compensation. I would not recommend this hotel for a function.

Breakfast quality good but layout very poor with buffet plates empty and unsupervised. Toaster ready for bin or poorly maintained as regularly required to be switched off to avoid triggering fire alarm. Rooms fine

quiet, nice place. rooms bit oldish but absolutely perfect. Good breakfast, bar is very good. Close to the sea and the sunset is beautiful from the window. (if you are lucky)

User

Good service, nice staff. Location was excellent, right near the town and beach. Easy walk to bars and clubs. Lovely.

Central to all the shops, rooms are a wee bit dated but are really clean and beds are comfy. Staff are really nice. Nice views if you in a front room
