We are open again and the sun is shining!

Due to high winds predicted the park is closed this morning. We hope to be open by lunchtime once the site has been checked by staff. Thank you for your cooperation.

Cambridge Road has been resurfaced but the contractors haven't finished painting the double yellow lines back onto the road outside the park or the turning circle. It's been really disappointing to see how many people choose to park here rather than pay for parking in our car park. If everyone did this the park would be forced to close! Milton Country Park is a charity which receives NO funding from SCDC, CCC, Milton parish or any other yet we work hard to be accessible and create outdoor opportunities for ALL. We rely heavily on our car park fee to cover the maintenance costs of the park, especially over the winter months. If you are coming by car please use the car park and not the road or Tesco. LOVE YOUR PARK and a big thank you to those who continue to support us!! #LoveParks #ParksMatter #Outdoors

Good to meet John our fishing bailiff and Janusz this week. Janusz is from the Building Bridges Team and has supplied the club with multi-language signage advising users of the rules for fishing the lakes. Both are part of the voluntary bailiff service.

User

We had a fantastic boost to the park team yesterday when staff from Citrix joined our Tuesday volunteers to help turf the playground - thank you so much for all your hard work. The park benefits hugely from help like this and we are very grateful! Work continues and the playground will remain closed for some weeks yet. We will keep you posted on progress and an expected opening date nearer the time.

User

Important Notice
The new play area will not be accessible while we undertake re surfacing work starting from today:
Monday 5th November
... There will be a period after the work where we must let the new turf bed in so we estimate 4-6 weeks.
This is important work that will ensure a much better playing surface in the long run and has been scheduled for a quieter period of the year to minimise disappointment.
Many thanks for your co operation

If anybody knows a Gregory Glass please can you let him know he left something in the park during Junior Parkrun this morning and to get in touch on 01223 420060. Thanks!

The Autumn Festival is organised by a tiny team but delivered by a large number of fabulous volunteers and talented local groups, businesses and individuals. A huge thank you to all who turned out to help us deliver this event. Special thanks to the army cadets, our Craft Shack Milton Yarnies, the orchard volunteers, all you wonderful people who pitched in or turned up to support us, and our local Tesco for feeding the troops! The park is a wonderful resource that gets no external income and days like this are essential to keeping it open. Thank you for coming on Sunday, especially after our unexpected change of date - it was a wonderful gift of a day and we hope you enjoyed it x

User

It's a fabulous day for a festival, come and have a lovely day out, lots to do and see including our happy donkeys!

User

We are now reopening the park and expect to be open for the remainder of today (please note the car park closure time of 5.30pm) and as normal tomorrow. Thank you for your patience.

User

Due to the fire at Milton recycling plant we have been advised by the authorities that people should remain indoors with doors and windows shut. In view of this and in the interests of public health the park will remain closed until further notice. Updates will be available on our website. Many thanks. MCP

User

We went for a fair to raise funds for the up keep and was a really good park. We will be back as lots of play areas and pretty walks that are child friendly.

User

We enjoyed a lovely stroll around the grounds finished with coffee and cake from the cafe. A lovely place for the kids to explore and have an adventure

User

Parklife was fantastic as always! To give children the opportunity to try so many activities for free is fantastic and open up their eyes to other things they can continue to do. We paid to do the canoeing and kayacking and thay was great too. I only found out last year it was run by donations and Parklife by volounteers. You do a brilliant job.

User

Lovely cafe, a maze of paths to get lost in, nice wildlife, a great programme of events throughout the year. A green oasis for north Cambridge and one of my favourite places!

User

Loved it. Came for the hide and seek. Had a lovely visit. Nice play area for kids, great walks and spaces for playing, hiding, fishing, strolling. Lovely lakes. Really liked the cafe. Better than usual places like that, not a greasy chip in sight. Quality ice-cream and frozen yoghurt, drinks and snacks all reasonably priced and good balanced options. Great views from upstairs seating area. Parking £2 all day.

User

Just had a lovely day at Park life 2018. plenty for the children to do and try, rock climbing, caving, archery and hovercraft. To name but a few, each year this event just gets better and better. Really exciting to see the developments being made. The playground looks spectacular and the wide range of activities now being offered throughout the week, Park run adults and kids, SUP, and open water swimming are making it a firm family favourite.

Many thanks

User

Had a fantastic time at the park yesterday for the Autumn festival. Great things for the kids to do and absolutely amazing food. Can't wait for next years! Really recommend it to anyone wanting a great family day out.

User

Every time I come here I love it a bit more. It's perfect for letting kids run around a bit and explore nature but has a great cafe and baby change. Good coffee. Slightly dilapidated play area but kids make their own fun outdoors and don't seem to mind it being a bit tatty. And I saw a kingfisher today. Amazing!! X

User

A very relaxing place to be. With a picnic, family and the dog we all have a relaxing time. Cheap to park all day and relax the rush of life away.

User

We live close to the park and find a walk around the lakes very peaceful, our grandchildren aged from 6 to 16 often also go but I must agree with them, there is not enough for them to do. There are only 2 baby swings, only 2 older children swings, the slide on the climbing frame for toddlers is quite dangerous as you have to be at the bottom to catch them as its too high off the ground and too often there is only one of each swings in operation it takes weeks before anything is replaced.

We just feel that the park needs to be run by someone with vision especially as there is so much room to use for children without spoiling the beauty of the area.

The other disappointing fact is that something needs to be done with the path ways as during the winter months they are dangerously slippery when so wet and muddy, over 60's like us tend not to venture into the park during those times.

However it is a lovely area on the whole, just feel it could be so much more. Anyone that has visited Bewllderwood in Norwich will know what we mean.

User

Thank you for selling dairy free/vegan ice cream. My son was able to enjoy his first ever ice cream after a morning spent enjoying the park with friends

User

Great place to take the kids for a bit of nature... lots of nice shaded areas, paths you can get half lost in, ducks and swans and mini lakes, and a café that sells yummy healthy frozen yogurt, and ice cream, amongst other things.

User

Been coming to this local gem for twenty years in all weathers and seasons. Introduced my son, nieces and nephew to the wonders of nature while they run around getting plenty of fresh air and exercise. A particular favourite of my nephew with school projects on finding signs of the seasons. Cafe has gone a bit new age and weird over the last year ( born out by my nephew who was less than impressed to find prunes in his chocolate brownie )

User

£3.10 for a hot chocolate so not impressed to start with. Could do with some tlc. We live a stones throw from Abbey Gardens in Bury St Edmunds and so are quiet spoilt as its always clean and staff always walking around to keep on top of housekeeping. Not in a hurry to return.

User

Visited the park today whilst in the area.

Lots of rubbish in country park including some glass

Play equipment damaged or missing

Serious lack of signage in park also meant we got lost so our car nearly got locked in car park!

User

The park is very good for a walk or any outdoor activities, there's plenty of trees, an orchard and lakes. However the play equipment urgently needs improvement. Also the parking payment system should allow for cashless payments as it's often too much hassle to leave the car there.

User

The park is lovely, could do with more accessible play equipment for children with additional needs. One member of staff was exceptionally rude, patronising and passive aggressive. Make your point once, don't come back for another pop, you came across like such an idiot. I know you wouldn't have spoken to a man in that tone. #sexist #badcustomerservice #everydaysexism

User

It's a weedy waste of time and absolutely no effort to maintain the Pitts for the fishermen so I won't buy a season ticket! But I guess it's ok for the dog walkers who don't pay anything for the pleasure 👎👎👎

User

I believe the park is under development and it certainly needs it, play area is poor and old with broken equipment. Nice in the summer for picnics. Couldn't find all ponds not exactly child friendly for feeding ducks on the two ponds lakes I did find!! More signage definitely needed
