User

We're a family of five and love this place. Great food, reasonably priced with friendly warm service, what's not to like?

We also need to eat gluten free; the menus all contain plenty of choice for us and the team are knowledgeable and happy to help at all times.

Five stars all round.

Myself and a group of friends meet here regularly. We are all Coeliac on a gluten free diet. We always get a warm welcome and offered their gluten free menu or normal menu which they can adapt to gluten free. Quality food and great customer care....can highly recommend

Lovely meal, excellent value, friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit

User

I love visiting the Royal when I pop through from scone to have a look round the shops in Blairgowrie.

It gets top marks from me because of the excellent range of Gluten Free meals offered, and the delicious cakes and scones they offer. Their Cullen Skink soup is a particular favourite of mine, and is a meal in itself! My Daughter, Granddaughter and myself ( all Coeliac ) love the Gluten free Macaroni Cheese.

You can have toasties, fish and chips, chicken pie, pasta etc etc, all made Gluten free, with very careful consideration about no cross contamination with 'normal' foods. Well worth a visit!

User

Excellent gluten free options - so nice to be able to go out and have a big choice of things we actually want to want to eat! Had no idea there was such a great choice gluten free locally, so happy! Good knowledge of coeliac needs and wants. We will be back.

Best High Tea around by far. Amazing value.

User

Went for High Tea and thoroughly enjoyed it. The batter on the fish could have done with a bit more cooking as it was undercooked but apart from that it was lovely. Lots of cakes which can be boxed to take away if you can't finish them. We managed to get a table for 2 without booking but better to book to ensure you get a table.

User

Really enjoyed our meal , but you really shouldn't put tomato soup on pasta! Would the waiter in the white shirt pleas pay more attention 😳But others wise we enjoyed it .

User

Food was really good. Fresh and hot. Very filling. We went for the lunch menu. Waitress was amazing . Very friendly. Will definitely go back.

I booked this hotel expecting history and quaintness. It had both, however, it also had the worst mattress I have ever slept on in a double room surface cleaned at best. The furniture is very dated and threadbare. No one has cleaned behind the bathroom door in a very long time. That said, the shower was good, as was the amount of towels and the addition of a couple of quilts we used instead of the duvet.

Breakfast was very good. It is clear the chef knows what he is doing. Food was hot and very good.

All this hotel needs is an update for the rooms and a little more care in cleaning.

The biggest drawback is the lack of parking and the lack of signage for the over flow parking. We were promised a parking stall by 6pm and because the hotel was short staffed with a large event in progress, the staff member with the parking spot could not leave. It would have been helpful to have been told about the overflow spot instead of waiting 90 minutes for a space. Thank you to the staff member who finally pointed that out to us.

Had an overnight to attend local party. Room clean, bed comfy and staff very friendly. It's no 5 star, but did the job and would use it again .

Only down was a coach load of Chinese were running the corridors around 5 am chatting loudly and woke me.

User

we stayed four nights last week with a group of fourteen and the rooms were all absolutely disgusting and filthy. The shower cubicle had extensive mould, a large hole in the carpet showing burnt floorboard , broken heater and wall socket not working. Needless to say non of these were fixed before we left. The rest of the group fared no better and were shown even worse rooms when asking to move.

The staff agreed that things were not good and seem to have given up

Went here for lunch yesterday with a friend. We were given a set menu for Monday to Saturday which literally had nothing either of us wanted on it apart from soup. We asked if there was another menu as it was Sunday and this menu wasn't for a Sunday and we're told no. So we ordered the soup. As there wasn't even an option to have a sandwich! We then heard one waitress mention macaroni for another table which we were not offered at all and would of been very happy with! We were given our soup which was obviously from the bottom of the pot as it was full of burnt bits and was horrible. Whilst trying to eat said soup the waitress and waiter discussed their previous night out which included discussing a member of staff who if got in that state again would be sacked and another member of staff who came from nowhere did nothing but swear whilst discussing this night out. Completely unprofessional! My friend then asked for a jug of hot water to heat up her baby's milk but was told point blank no in case she burnt herself and was told the bottle could be reheated which isn't an option as the baby gets a special bottle which cannot go in a microwave. no other option to heat the bottle was given like putting in hot water on the bar and once warm give us the bottle back. The whole time I felt as though we were bothering their day and we certainly won't ever be back!
