This 8 week mind training course is a mixture of Eastern Mindfulness training and Western Cognitive Science. MBCT is a variant of Jon Kabat Zin's MBSR and virtually all of the scientific evidence for mindfulness is based upon measured changes in participants who have completed this course.

In teaching Mindfulness 8 week courses for nearly 13 years I have learned that people need to learn to sleep properly, to be disciplined about their sleep, before they can meditate properly. This video shows, mostly, verifiable science (the Vit D supplement has conflicting evidence and I would suggest it's better to use sunlight or lightboxes!). Clinical Perfectionism will lead you to be always thinking 'that's not quite good enough'. In my CBT work with this trait we get people to learn to feel and think'that's good enough' but it doesn't always 'sink in'. I agree with the commentator in this article: the cure is really 'self acceptance' and I have noticed that an 8 week MBCT (Mindfulness cognitive course ) is the best way to learn that!

This link is quite rigourous about the evidence for mindfulness. Many people offer 'day sessions' or 'online courses' or 'weekend retreats' but all the significant evidence is for 8 week MBCT + mbsr courses. 8 week evidence based course.This course includes cognitive science and is backed up by considerable scientific evidence: proven to reduce stress involved with chronic pain, proven to reduce likelihood of depression -better than anti depressants in the longer term etc. Dates: 8th September - 3rd November (8 weeks) 12.30pm-2.30pm There will be no session on the 27th October a this is half term week.
