Providing Counselling, Care and Information on Miscarriage

Miscarriage Support: Scottish Care & Information On Miscarriage Description

SCIM are the only organisation of our kind in Scotland and were founded in 1994. We offer a person-centred approach to counselling and supervision. Our award winning counselling training is offered to individuals & groups. Our counselling service aims to assist people from all over Scotland as 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage. Clients are offered day-to-day coping strategies to advance their emotional health, assist their return to work or to sustain employment.
We are funded by the Scottish Executive, Glasgow City Council, North Lanarkshire Council and through regular donations from clients who have used the service. We receive regular referrals from the NHS, GP’s, Social work departments, and through clients self referral.
Organisations such as EPU & GP’s are offered information & support to provide a more inclusive service. Cross referrals to other organisations are structured to ensure service users are given the best all round support.
In 2009 there were 5, 946 miscarriages in Scotland. Over the last year we have provided 495 face-to-face appointments, 357 telephone appointments and provided information to individuals and health organisations around Scotland.

Traumatised by miscarriage: waiting for the operation and the D&C procedure (surgical management of miscarriage) was performed under local anaesthetic.
A big thanks to Alexis for speaking out about her traumatic experience.

Very interesting research by Professor Dunwoodie as she discovers how to prevent miscarriages and birth defects using vitamin B3. Strangely enough I was suggesting vitamin B complex to one of our clients yesterday. Please share. https://www.victorchang.edu.au/pregnancy- breakthrough

Scottish Care & Information on Miscarriage commends First Minister Nicola Sturgeon's brave decision to go public with her miscarriage. A woman needs support no matter who you are as one in four pregnancies still end in miscarriage: http://www.thetimes.co.uk/…/sturgeon-re veals-miscarriage-de…

#SCIM commend #NicolaSturgeon going public on #miscarriage. 1in4 pregnancies end that way, they all deserve support
