The award wis a jynt initiative atween the Scottish Government and the Scots Language Centre in Perth, that recognised the celebration, support an promotion o Scots (an Doric) in community life, seekin oot communities faar Scots culture is aye weel tae the fore an spoken wi pride. The criteria included Spoken, Visible, Events, Young... Fowk, Opportunities tae Learn and Promotion bi means o festivals, kirk services, signage, the development o language-based tourism an sic like.
The idea wis tae big up a network o Scots Touns throughoot Scotland, bit (as far as we ken) siller wis withdrawn. Keith cwid therefore be the only Scots Toun for the foreseeable future, an although we micht eventually be ane o monie, we'll aye be the first!
