It is Thursday 22nd August. It is the last day we will be open. When we close the doors at 8 tonight, it will be for the last time. Come in and say hi if you're passing, take a look and see if there are any among the last-minute bargains that take your fancy...
In the meantime, and on behalf of all the staff, let me just say:
"So long, and thanks for all the fish".

Attention all slot-car racers: Our Scalextric stock will be leaving the store on MONDAY 19TH AUGUST! Don't put off that purchase any longer - get it while you still can!

Attention all railway modellers: Our Hornby stock will be leaving the store on MONDAY 19TH AUGUST! Don't put off that purchase any longer - get it while you still can!

Our last day of trading will be 22/8/13. This is obviously sad news for all of us in store, but we hope you will stop in and say goodbye before we have to go.

User

We have just one of the exclusive 'Modelzone' -branded Hornby open wagons left. Given Modelzone's current unfortunate circumstances these are sure to be rare collectables in years to come, so why not come in and ask about it?

We have been somewhat remiss, on this page, in not welcoming back Drew as the store manager after his brief sojourn to Lancing. It demonstrates commendable loyalty for a rat to *return* to a sinking ship, and we fellow rodents greet him with incredulity and delight!

As some of you may have heard, Modelzone is closing down. This affects the entire chain, not just Aberdeen: everything is going to go.
We do not yet have a timeframe for closure of the Aberdeen store. We will receive two weeks' warning - please keep checking this page as we will make the announcement online once we receive it.
From now until then, we do not expect - for obvious reasons! - to receive much by way of new stock. So if there is anything you particularly want, fo...r heaven's sake come in and get it before it's sold to someone else, because once it's gone it's most likely gone for good!
In the meantime, thank you all for supporting the store and allowing us to help you enjoy your hobby to the best of our ability.
Gavin Browne, Assistant Manager

Thank you to all those customers who have extended their good wishes to us in the team. We hope to be here for a good long time to come!
Unfortunately, following one or two unpleasant incidents recently, it is worth pointing out that we have a *zero tolerance* approach to threatening and abusive behaviour, whether in person or over the phone. We understand that the situation currently is extremely frustrating for everyone - not least us! - but there are appropriate and civilised ways to express that frustration. We will not accept anything other.

Due to Modelzone Ltd. going into administration, there have been some changes involving the redemption of Modelzone vouchers.
First of all, for the time being, we will be selling no vouchers.
Second of all, no sales can be paid for solely with vouchers. Vouchers can be used up to a maximum of 50% of the sale. For example:
... 1. A £40 sale paid for with a £20 note and a £20 voucher will go through as normal.
2. A £30 sale will take the value of that £20 voucher to be £15, and will require the other £15 to be made up by cash or card.
3. A £20 sale will take the value of the £20 voucher to be £10, and will require the other £10 to be made up by cash or card.
We are sorry that this has occurred, and that our current situation has come to negatively affect you, our customers. Please bear with us as we try to resolve these issues.
Thank you.

At the very end of the war, one or two Messerschmitt Bf-109Ks were turned out in a polished metal finish. This was nothing to do with paint shortages, but was in fact to make them as streamlined and 'slippery' as possible, to enable them to chase RAF Mosquitos. This is the old Heller kit, brush-painted with Tamiya XF-16 Flat Aluminium - a particular favourite of Gavin's!

User

The Airfix 1:72 DeHavilland Mosquito, built here as the NF Mk.II. The kit comes with options for ground attack and anti-shipping variants as well. Gavin used Revell Decal Soft to apply the transfers - a dab of it on the area on which the decal is to sit will ensure no 'silvering' of the film on the matt black paint ;-)

If you have purchased something from our store why not share a photograph of the fruits of your labours? Bought a new loco? Why not show us it on your layout? New kit? Why not show us the final product? At Modelzone Aberdeen we like nothing more than to see how the products we sell are used and enjoyed by the people that buy them.

User

New sale items added. Lots of Revell kits down even further and some die-cast mark downs added. Come in and pick up a bargain before the sale ends!!

In Modelzone Aberdeen the friendly and helpful staff know what they are talking about - because they are as enthusiastic about models as you are! Here you can see some of the fruits of their endeavours as they make use of their skills and experience and show off the models they have bought for themselves. If you see something you like, or are curious to learn how a particular effect was achieved, why not come in store and ask? We'd love to help you enjoy your hobby even more.

The second entry in our staff competition to build the Revell Me262 Nightfighter (we still have a few remaining, but at £1.75 each they're sure to go fast) has been submitted! This one has been built with the landing gear down, and the long-range fuel tanks have been added beneath the nose. In order to make it stay on its wheels and not fall backwards (always a possibility with a tricycle-style wheel arrangement) small lead fishing weights - the kind that crimp on the line itself - have been glued inside the nose.

User

The first submission in the staff 'Build a 1:72 Revell Messerchmitt Me262 Nightfighter' competition has been hung over Till 2. The fuselage camouflage was hand-painted using a 5/0 sable paintbrush, oversprayed with grey to dull it back a little, while the wings illustrate the crisp lines one can achieve with Tamiya Masking Tape.
