About Moffat Camping And Caravanning Club Site

Moffat Camping and Caravanning Club Site

Moffat Camping And Caravanning Club Site Description

Moffat is our Club campsite in the Scottish lowlands. It’s an ideal stopping off point for journeys through Scotland. This pretty Victorian Spa town is just three minutes off the M74. But Moffat is much more than just a pit stop, its idyllic location more than warrants a longer stay.
The 180-pitch Moffat campsite boasts a fine setting in a wide valley surrounded by magnificent scenery. The well laid out site has a good range of well-placed facilities catering for all campers needs.

If you choose to linger a little longer in the area, the town of Moffat is a great place to start your exploration. Just a five minute walk from the campsite, the town boasts one of the broadest high streets in Scotland. Here you'll find the fountain topped by the statue of Colvin Ram, the famous Moffat Toffee Shop and the Star Hotel which appears in the Guinness Book of Records as the narrowest hotel in the world. Moffat also offers a variety of shopping including a weekly market on Fridays and a monthly producers market.

Nearby Station Park offers a variety of attractions including a boating lake and gardens. Next to the campsite the Hammerlands Centre has a garden centre, cafe and fishery.

The town holds an annual walking festival in October and from the campsite you can access some of the finest hilwalking in the south of Scotland. Also close by is the Grey Mares Tail, a magnificent waterfalldropping 200ft from Loch Skene.

There are also a number of historic houses and castles in the area. Drumlanrig Castle near Thornhill - Scotland’s oldest inhabited house - contains artwork by Rembrandt and Da Vinci and has wonderful landscaped gardens and woods. Medieval Caerlaverock Castle is located close to nearby Dumfries.

User

really enjoyed my visit to Moffat Caravan Park , toilets are very clean and lovely showers and site is so near the town, plenty of lovely coffee shops.

User

Toilets very clean and warm, staff friendly and helpful

Very close to town but not town noise, lots of shops and eating house all within walking distance, Moffat is a Dark Sky’s town for thouse that like to star gaze

I have already booked my next trip to here

This is our first time at Moffat and will certainly be back. The site is well run and staff friendly and helpful. The shower/toilet block is super clean and the water is hot although it really could do with being warmer as the aircon units seem to be blowing cool air - not fun on these chilly mornings. A minor point as the site's location is really brilliant with walking access to the many eateries and shops with glorious countryside around. Fab.

There’s nothing I can say that hasn’t already been said

This is my third time here I discovered this site after giving a trip advisor negative review of a site in Annan who continually increased prices year on year and being confronted by the owner of the place who called me a liar for saying I had been to their site for over 40 years and suggesting I don’t visit there again to which I replied at £26 a night for a single person I won’t (2016)

Well I thank that person person for making me try Moffat it is reasonably priced (cheap compared to the B*****s in Annan) and a far better site

User

Spotless toilets and showers and staff friendly enough . Great location just 5 minutes walk into town. We are here 5 days to explore the borders but great stop over if heading north or south on M74

User

Our 2nd time at Moffat. This time on a busy bank holiday weekend. Lovely site, walking distance to pubs, restaurants and shops. This time we walked along the gated path to the fishing lakes. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. The only slight niggle we have is why they have to close the toilet blocks between 10.30-12 for cleaning? I dont know how it takes all that time to clean one toilet/shower block. Especially when lots of people are getting ready to depart for their journey home and have to leave the site by 12! There seemed to be plenty of staff working there too. Having said that, we will visit again.

User

Lovely staff, good clean site, with a 4G signal and fast WiFi to boot. Within very short walking distance of the town, Co-op, and an outlet store with a café that does food breakfasts before 1130. Good for dogs, good for cats. Feels like you're in a hamlet not a market town.

User

Just spent two nights here, lovely site, facilities spotless, staff very friendly and love the way they help you choose your pitch. Very close to village centre where most pubs and cafes are dog friendly and several establishments offer discount on food etc if you are a member of the caravan and camping club. Already planning our return trip.

User

It’s a lovely site & the people are very helpful & friendly it’s spotless the we town is stunning to & a very short walk not even 5 mins would definitely come. Back again xx

User

Great site close to walking into town. Amenities lovely and clean staff friendly. We got a pitch beside the shower block, recycling so we were lucky. First visit here but would highly recommend and hopefully be back in the future.

User

Friendly, helpful staff, immaculate shower block and a short walk into Moffat, a beautiful part of the country, we’ll be back!

User

Friendly, great amenities, and short walk to the town. Perfect

User

First visit to this site, the staff are very friendly and helpful, shower and toilet area, is exeptionaly clean! The little town was very handy, for walking into, plenty of choice for food and drinks. Although there was a pizza place, just at the site entrance, that was magnificent! (We went for a second ) The only thing for us that would be something to consider, it doesn't have a play area for children on site, and weather was not on our side at all. Would we visit again, yes! But maybe without the children

User

2nd visit, love this site. It's very clean and tidy, well laid out and the staff are lovely. It's brilliantly located, walking distance to shops and pubs

User

We'll run, friendly site, shower/toilet block clean but freezing on these cold morning, heating needs turned up but not the water temperature, that was fine. Some lights out on site, reported it but still not fixed when we left, not site staff's fault but needs chasing up as it was very dark on site (I know it's a dark sky site but need to see the service points) All in all a lovely site.

User

Was very good; however, I truly believe that admission charge of £5 per adult was a little steep. 😎🙏

User

Very nice. Very clean. To be fair we only use it as a stop over on our way up north. And again on our way back down. Very impressed with it all. Lovely and clean. Had a nice overnight stay.

User

Well I honestly believed I could get on after 12pm. I arrived at about 12.20pm to be told sorry you can't get on until 1.00pm. They made me drive through the site which was half empty and Park in the woolen mill coach park until 1.00pm. I am not sure what they needed to do in that time but no way was I getting on site.

We went back round on time and to be fair it's a nice site and they are friendly staff but it is beyond me why they couldn't book me in but rules are rules I suppose.

User

Great location and good staff. Shower, toilet and washing up facilities all good and up to usual C&CC standards. However, there has to be one grouse. We were asked, not unreasonably, to keep off the grass because it was very boggy. No problem, however the road round the site is not wide enough to enable reversing onto the pitch without going on the grass. Also, the pitch was not big enough to get the car next to the van without going on the grass. I have noticed this on other C&CC sites and it is something they need to look at. Don’t have this problem on CAMC sites.
