Moffat Mansion Description
Moffat Mansion is a superb example of a Victorian house. The property is thought to date from the mid-1800s and was built by the Hay family whose business was in Glasgow and who used the house as holiday accommodation. The property is B-Listed and has extensive accommodation arranged over lower ground, ground and first floors, which has been substantially upgraded by the current owners and retains many of the original period features.
The house is situated at the centre of its 7. 6 acres and has wonderful views out over the parkland.
The house is approached through an entrance vestibule which leads into the main reception hall. This is a spectacular space, lit by 2 cupolas and giving access to the principal accommodation. There are 5 principal reception rooms on the ground floor making it ideal for entertaining. The drawing room has a beautiful, decorative cornice, a parquet floor, a log burning stove with a beautiful, marble surround and links directly into the dining room through double doors. The dining room has a
fabulous bay window with ornate, panelled woodwork. Doors from the dining room lead into the morning room which is ideal for informal dining. There is also a library with an extensive range of fitted bookshelves which connects into the billiard room via a double door. The kitchen is spacious and has an oil-fired Aga, a gas range and a range of fitted units including an island unit.

My friends booked Moffat Mansion for my hen party and I was complety blown away! It is the most amazing house to go and stay in. Plenty of room for 16 guests, lots of big communal spaces. I would highly recommend!
Lovely old house in beautiful surroundings, 11 adults and 6 children and we all had a ball.
Loved it. Fabulous place. Had everything you need. Beds really comfy and lots of nooks and crannies to discovers. The kids were playing hide and seek for hours. Would highly recommend
Fab place, stayed her for my dad's 70th birthday, lovely & warm, everything you need for cooking for 16 people, living room great size for all sitting round the fire at night & enough room in the whole house that you are not all living on top of each other, bedrooms are all lovely decorated & spacious, would highly recommend, thank you to Susan for the cake & arriving so quickly when we had a small issue with the heating.
