Winter Tip: With the icy weather we've been having, wash your dogs’ feet after they've been walking on gritted roads as salt can be an irritant to paws.

Sadly we have had a black cat handed in last night who was hit by a car and sadly died of his injuries. He is a neutered male and was found in John Street in Nairn. He is chipped but the details have not been updated. We believe he is or has previously been named "Sooty". Please call our Forres branch-01309 672 243 if you have any information.

Keep Pets Safe!
During the winter we try to prevent freezing by using ethylene glycol, otherwise known as Anti-freeze, in car radiators and in some screen washers and de-icers. Please make sure you store these safely away from animals. If you suspect your pet has been poisoned, it is extremely important you seek veterinary attention immediately.

Meet James!
He came in to see is today and he was a star! He is already quite a big and only 3.5 months old! We think he is going to be a big handsome chap!

These 9 pups visited us today for their first vaccines. This is the second time we've seen them as they were delivered by us by c- section! Aren't they cute!

It is that time of year again, but are you doing all you can to prevent a Liver fluke infestation in your herd/flock?

PET OF THE MONTH
Gus is a 3.5 year old ginger cat who presented on a Friday at the end of July having arrived home in the morning completely lame on his right hind leg. Initial examination suggested a fractured femur so Gus was admitted for x-rays. They revealed that his femur had 2 fractures – a transverse fracture, across the bone, and a longitudinal fracture, along the length of the bone.
Despite Gus’s injuries, once recovered and back in his kennel after the x-rays, he... was eating really well and purring so loudly it was difficult to hear his heart beat! Following discussions with Gus’s owner, our vet Andrew Stevens operated on Gus the following Monday to repair the transverse fracture by attaching a plate.
Although understandably quiet and subdued after surgery, that evening Gus was back to his happy purring self! The following day he was beginning to use his leg and was eating and drinking well again. Throughout Gus’s hospitalisation he was one of the happiest and most affectionate cats we have had to look after. Not once did he show any sign of aggression towards any of the vets or nurses.
11 days after the operation, when in to have his stitches removed, Gus was using his leg with only a slight limp. The recuperation period for a fracture repair is about 3 months and during this time Gus had to be kept inside, initially confined to one room. Last week Gus visited us for final post-operative x-rays and has now been signed off by the vet. He can finally go back to normal exercise and be let outside!

***MISSING CAT FORRES***

***MISSING CAT FINDHORN***
This handsome boy is Lucky, he recently moved to Church Place in Findhorn from the USA, and has managed to escape through an open window. Lucky is normally an indoor cat, he has just endured a long flight to a strange country so he is likely very disoriented, scared and hungry. Lucky is 8 years old, wearing a collar with a bell and tags, he is also microchipped. He can be wary of men but less so with women. Recent video footage of a cat very like Lucky was taken in a back yard in Kinloss late last week. If you live in the area could you please keep a look out for Lucky and please check all garages sheds and outbuildings just in case Lucky has found somewhere to hide? Please share and help Lucky get home to his very worried family. Contact Forres surgery if you have any info, thanks.

We recently moved to moray and hadn't yet used a vet in the area for our pet cat Bella. Unfortunately we ended up having to suddenly under sad circumstances but we would recommend this vet to anyone after our short experience. I want to say how wonderful the vets and staff were in caring for our cat in the short time she was there. Unfortunately bellas condition was serious and sudden and we decided to let her go. This decision was an infomed one with Martina taking great care to explain the situation even showing us detailed xrays to help us understand the condition and potential outcomes. This has made us feel like we did the right thing for Bella and i greatly appreciated that in such a hard time. Also the love and care shown to Bella was second to none. We could tell how much Bella liked Martina and her care. The dignity and respect shown to her in her final moments was wonderful and I'm glad Bellas passing was made so comfortable. Thank you again for everything.

We have been living in Moray for the past 10 years and during that time have made many visits to Moray Coast Vets with our animals. Everyone there is kind, caring and very helpful and we have always been delighted with the care our animals have received through good and bad times. Have always recommended them to friends and family and will continue to do so

User

These guys correctly diagnosed and operated on my dog with a tumour which Crown had said was inoperable! They looked after my two oaps with great care until the day I had to ask them to come out to have them pts. Can't recommend them highly enough

User

Thank you to Andy for coming out to check over a very stunned deer this morning. The poor thing had run into a fence after my dog scared it. Initially I feared the worst as it was very distressed but unable to get back on it's feet. I did not want to see it suffer, so phoned Moray Coast. Andy, kindly came out and checked the deer over. No serious damage, Left the deer to rest. Fingers crossed it came round

User

Thank you so much for the wonderful care and attention that my beautiful black lab Poppy received during her acupuncture sessions as a referral from our Elgin vets.

Everyone, from the moment we entered the door months ago has been so friendly and helpful.

I really want to thank Claire the vet who has not only delivered gentle and loving care to Poppy but great support to myself as Poppy had treatment to improve her joints due to arthritis, changed to pain relief in the last days of her life. Poppy loved coming to see Claire.

Thank you, x

I Would Like to Extend a Brilliant Review For Moray Coast Vet Group, our Family vet is Johanna Vicary In my opinion she is the best in the Group and my reasoning for this is because before our dog Amber passed away she has been Amber's vet ever Since we moved to Forres, Unfortunately Just Recently our Dog Amber passed away and all i can really say is that the support and help we revived from Johanna was Brilliant She handled the situation in a professional and helpful manner, She helped us through everything so well and me and my Family would like to Extend a Massive thank you for all this help and Care our Pets Have revived over the past 10 years we have lived in Forres, I Think personally that Moray Coast Vet Group Don't get the credit they deserve And I Think people need to take into consideration How much Stress These Vets Have to go through, So that is my Review I hope this helps you guys, Brilliant job, Thanks Moray Coast Vet Group.

User

User

Have been with this practice for ten years and always had excellent service, none more so than the last two weeks, when my cat had toxic poisoning and my old basset had to be put to sleep. My cat only pulled through due to the care he received from the vets and nurses here, and my dog, went to sleep peacefully in my arms, in his own house by a lovely vet lady who was very gentle with him and who came straight away even though it was out of hours. I highly recommend moray coast vet group and am very grateful to them for all they have done for my babies over the last ten years!

User

Great news Darby, who saw and X-rayed Roma this morning, is delighted with her progress! We have to slowly build up jumping in and out the car, off lead and rough playing with Tara. She should be her old self in a few months but, without the pain. We go back for the final checkup in 6 months. It was a huge decision to do this, but after a very restricted lifestyle for 6 months for her, it seems to have paid off. I can’t thank Noel, Darby and the whole Fitzpatrick’s team enough! I can’t praise Moray Coast Vets enough, either. Without the local support of the vets and nurses, especially in the first few weeks, the outcome could have been very different. Thank you all!

User

Brilliant practice for all our dogs from being a year old to end of life care from them. We’ve had ongoing support through a variety of challenging conditions for our dog from new knees to cancer.

User

Absolutely fantastic vets practice. Cannot speak highly enough.

User

I have had very mixed experiences, from vets with poor attitude, unnecessary operations, to not doing necessary operations, to over hearing being talked about just minutes after losing my pet ... yeah, i'm sure i could go on, but they have been good on occasion. Sorry i'm rubbish with names, but the lady at nairn reception who has a schnauzer, is very good.

User

Unethical and unscrupulous avoid at all costs.
