On this special Remembrance Sunday, which marks 100 years since the end of the First World War, we're thinking about all those who died in the two world wars and the many British servicemen and women killed or injured since then. We've also added some red Poppies to our work vans as a mark of respect to all the brave men, women and animals who perished. We believe it's so important to remember and honour those who sacrificed themselves to secure and protect our freedom and ensure we have the lives we enjoy today. We will never forget them.❤️

We're so proud of our enterprising MRES boss Moray Robertson who has graduated from Edinburgh Napier University with a degree in Business Management. Moray was delighted to receive his degree following more than a year of hard work and commitment – juggling business, family and studying. He is an advocate of lifelong learning and wanted to ensure his family firm is on the right track by studying all aspects of business including law, managing staff, statuto...ry procedures and administration. He said: “I’m proud to have completed the degree which I felt was an important part of my development as a business owner and manager. “I’ve been self employed for around 30 years now and wanted to make sure I was doing everything right as far as the business is concerned and have the opportunity to learn new management skills. “It’s important to keep up to date in business and although it was hard work studying alongside running a growing company it was well worth the effort.” Moray began his degree at Edinburgh’s Napier University just over a year ago studying at home and attending lectures and tutorials at the campus. He and his proud wife Cherene Robertson attended the university’s Graduation Ceremony at the capital’s Usher Hall last week. Cherene said: “I’m so proud of Moray for all he has achieved, he’s a great role model to our daughter Grace and to the whole MRES team and has shown that learning never stops." 👨‍🎓👏

Today we're celebrating National Mentoring Day and all the positive benefits mentors can bring.
Guiding and mentoring apprentices is an important part of the job at MRES and our MD Moray Robertson is passionate about sharing his skills and knowledge with the electricians he takes on.
Moray himself began his working life as an apprentice and the firm currently has two apprentices who are studying Electrical Engineering on block release at Perth and Forth Valley Colleges as wel...l as learning on the job.
We also have plans to include a training academy at our new premises which are currently under construction in Stirling. 😀

What a great surprise we had when we were driving through Perth and spotted an ad for our business in a building which is being renovated! It's thanks to our clever friends at Firmus Building Services Ltd who are refurbishing a building and thought it would be a good idea to advertise their business with bespoke signs in the windows while the work is being carried out. They also included us and other trade colleagues who they collaborate with. Thanks guys and happy Friday ev...eryone!

We were delighted to be given a Special Commendation in the Best Medium Sized Contractor category at the SELECT Awards last night. Although we didn't win either of our two categories, we were proud to be nominated for these important industry awards and to be awarded a Special Commendation was wonderful. Our senior engineers Paul Starkey and Mark Gordon did a great job of representing Moray Robertson Electrical Services Ltd - MRES for Moray and Cherene Robertson and enjoyed a fun evening at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Glasgow. Thanks to SELECT for hosting the event and congratulations to all the worthy winners on the night!
