Thank you from Top Hat & Tales! Feeling overwhelmed by the kind support for our wee storytelling videos! Even when I've been at work or at the shops, people have stopped to share positive feedback and encourage me to continue with them. Look out on Easter Sunday for No. 8...
Spooky storytelling at a safe distance!
Thanks again everyone, take care x :)

St Michael's Kirk, Gordon: Last year, we visited the old church of St Michael's, which dates back to 1897. Its simple style only serves to enhance St Michael's picture-perfect beauty.
It was rebuilt from an 18th century church and prior to this, a medieval place of worship was situated here.
We were struck by the stunning views surrounding St Michael's and its rather rather wild, exposed atmosphere, felt all the more keenly in the cutting wind of a January day.
... There is also an interesting feature in the form of a church bell inscribed: *'David Brown minister at Gordon ordered me to be fovnded Anno 1714 and refovnded me 1725. R M Fec' and cast by Robert Maxwell.

Virtual Visit - The Old Kirk of Garvald: Reflecting on a wee recce around old Garvald Church in 2017. According to Canmore, the church became ruinous "when the parish of Garvald was annexed to Kirkmichael in 1660".
These beautiful foliage-entangled ruins resonate with history.

Pink sunset over Criffel... An evening visit to Glencaple often reveals a beautiful sunset and this is one of our favourites, from 2015. The pink and purple hues have an almost dreamlike quality. Nice to look back over the archives and remind ourselves of joyful times.
Please share your happy snaps here! :)

Grave of Marian Costine, Kirkbean: The old parish churchyard at Kirkbean houses a number of fascinating graves, and the grave of Marian Costine is one of its most remarkable.
The sculpture is well preserved, with the exception of a broken arm, and her hair is beautifully plaited. A verse carved above the female effigy, reminds us of death's inevitability. To the reverse, a winged soul and the following inscription:
"Here lyes Marian Costine, spouse to John Caird, Tenant in Ca...stlehill, who died March 1st 1756, aged 71."

Looking back on a photo shoot at the amazing Museum of Lead Mining last year. The shoot, featured in Dumfries & Galloway Life, was designed to promote the inaugural Festival of Folklore.
We had a super time exploring the Museum and were blown away by the magnificent Miner's Library. Thinking of our friends up in Wanlockhead and Leadhills, and will look forward to meeting again. x
