I have just bought a Vauxhall Antara and I couldn't be happier with the service I received. Gavin certainly knows his stuff and he made sure that everything was in order with the car before I collected it.

I have only ever bought from large dealers before but I will definitely be returning here when I decide I want another new car.

Bought a car from these folk :) such a sweet family.. refused to sell me a car because it was quite faulty... So instead of leaving with a heap of junk I left with a really nice car :D.. plus Gavin makes some nice Tea.. first time in my life I've come across anyone completely honest in that profession. Please let me introduce myself I am Gavin Macfadyen the new owner of Murdo Murchison Used Cars in Doune as from December 2016, I have been in the motor industry for 8 years and this is a new challenge for me. I decided to keep the Murdo Murchisons name after so many good reviews and gutted to read a few didn't get an excellent service. Buying a car is meant to be exciting and most off all an enjoyable experience, reading your comments, it's clear to see for a few it was not just stressful but all round disappointing, for that I'm truly sorry. I believe in making the process easy and stress free and have now introduced a pre delivery RAC 82 point check on all cars. Every vehicle now comes standard with a 3 month warranty as well as 12 months complementary breakdown cover and road side assistance, with home start. I want my customers to have trouble free motoring and if there are issues they are fully supported.
Selling the car is the easy part, it's what you do and how you treat the customer once the vehicle has left that matters, as it is important to our business that every customer remains happy and satisfied with their purchase. If only I was able to leave 0 stars. Bought a Jeep from here Mid 2016, the car failed it's miserably 6 months prior to purchase. I was informed all repairs were carried out and shown the pass certificate which showed 1 advisory which was very minimal.

I put the car through a MOT 5 months after purchase for it to fail on all the parts that I was told were replaced at the last test. Numerous mechanics have informed me it would be near impossible for those parts to last less than a year and was told the parts on the vehicle had been there for many years.

I took the vehicle back to Murdo Murchison after advise from DVSA, Citizens Advice, RAC and trading standards. This Garage told me I had to pay for all the repairs even though by law they had to prove the car was road worthy at the time of sale if not it would be at their expense. (They refused to show documentation of the parts repaired or any invoice for parts they purchased for repair) I had 3 quotes for the repairs, ranging from £2100 to £2450 (the car cost £3000). As a result of not being able to afford the repairs and further issues that would be needed to keep the car roadworthy, the car is now worthless.

This garage will fob you off with all sorts of excuses to get out of taking responsibility, from claiming the garage is under new ownership when companies house has no record of this, "we're just looking after it while the owner is away", "the member of staff who sold you the car no longer works here so I'd have to chase him up for my money back", "for all I know, you and the member of staff did the deal away from the premises so not our responsibility" "the owners son will email you if he feels he should refund you" (never received an email) and mine and my father's favourite excuse "you could have switched the good parts for faulty parts" (like I have 20+ hours of time to mess about under a car with absolutely no mechanical knowledge)

The apparent "New Owner" also refused to give me his name so I haven't got a reference and informed me he had no contact details or phone numbers for Murdo Murchison (the real owner)

I'd hate for anyone else to go through what I have so please take mine and other customers advise who have reviewed them on her.... DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM HERE!

If you want a cheap car which may turn out to be a death trap like my Jeep then this is the place to go, if you don't want to be ripped off and left with no car and no money I'd suggest use anyone but these people.

Legal proceedings have been commenced, fortunately my solicitor has taken this on as a no win no fee so I have nothing more to lose.

In July 2014 we bought a Qashqai from Murdo Murchison – possibly the worst mistake we have ever made. It began with lost paperwork, lies about the lost paperwork, no sign of replacement paperwork, mechanical problems within two and a half months meaning the car was deemed not safe to drive, then wrangling over the supposed three month warranty that comes with the car (supposedly we had broken the warranty conditions by not getting Murdo Murchison to fix the issue – note the car was deemed unsafe to drive and we live 70 miles from the garage). Despite assurances when we bought the car that it had been fully serviced and recently had an MOT, we discovered that this was just another of the lies fed to us … no service, no MOT. Murdo Murchison claiming he had the documentation to prove that these had been done but refusing to supply us with them. Luckily MOT status can be checked on the official government website which proved that not a single word this garage spurt can be trusted. Now eight months after purchasing this car we have had to spend almost £1500 to get this car through an MOT. So people of the web, please learn by our mistake and do not consider this garage. The wide-boy salesman will simply say anything to get the car sold and the owner is so crammed into his slim-fitting suit that he can barely speak English. STAY AWAY!!
