* How long have you been in the hair Industry for Gemma?
I have been in the hair Industry for 17 years now and it all started here at Myles West.
*who would you name as your Hair idol?
Has to be Vidal Sasson i love his passion for sharp and defined edges in his cuts.
What is your all-time two fav products?
Glam mist from eimi as it has anti - humidity which is great for all weather! And secondly Drynamic from Sebastian as its great for creating texture and volume.
What was your favourite Hair trends of 2018?.
Soft pastel tones are awesome as they fade nicely so you actually get a few different shades from one colour.
What is you're Home care advice for our client's here at Myles?
The importance of using salon quality products to maintain your hair is essential. As these are very concentrated and work in unison with our salon colour this prevents colour fade and protects your hair. Also I highly advice all client's to use heat protection wella thermal image is the best!.
Final what are the two awards that you are holding in the photo?
The one on the left is my award for stylist of the year 2017 and the image in the window is my model that made it all happen !
The other is the salon award for best of edinburgh that we proudly have on show in the salon.

Visited Myles Hairdressing for the first time today and it was an excellent experience! Gem and her colleagues were very welcoming and explained everything to me at each stage. Gem did balayage and also cut my hair and I absolutely love it! She put some treatments on to improve the condition and look of my hair and gave me advice on how to look after my hair at home which was very useful. Definitely recommend Myles hairdressing �. This is my local salon and I have had a few appointments here now with a few different team members, but today was especially good. My first time with David and I was incredibly pleased with his work! Definitely the best haircut and service I have received in Edinburgh.



Staff are lovely and always offer a professional service with a refreshments menu and a very comfortable salon atmosphere.



My cut and style today was priced at £40, and I really felt as though this was good value for money for the high standard of service!

Thanks to Dominique for Ellie's (and my) brilliant cut this morning. Ellie is ecstatic, and literally skipped home. Lovely start to our weekend!

Love this place! Tommy is fantastic- he is so professional and really knows his stuff. I have difficult to manage hair and he’s always made it look fantastic. Couldn’t recommend this place enough.

John has to be the best and most skilled person to have ever have touched my hair.



I recently had a pretty intense crisis which meant my hair (and mind) needed more than a little TLC. Not only did this man give me the best physical outcome I could have hoped for, he showed me so much kindness, soul and compassion when doing his fine work. I know it sounds random, but I was in a terrible way and John gave me faith in the kindness of people again. I walked out of the salon feeling like I was so blessed and lucky to have crossed his path.



I couldn't recommend John any higher. I hope I am lucky enough to have him do my hair again in the future. This salon is indeed showcasing true talent and upstanding humans.

I was booked for a cut and style with Sharon this afternoon and it was an excellent experience, I cannot recommend her and this salon enough. She took the time to listen to what I was after and showed me pictures of different styles she could do when I wasn't sure. She explained fully what she was using on my hair as she went along and continued to show me the progress made. You could tell she truly cared about the job she was doing and sorted my dodgy layers out in no time. Would definitely recommend booking an appointment!!

But more importantly I don't think I've ever had better care taken of my hair. I have gone from really dark to blonde within a few visits and my hair is in better condition now than it was before I started, thanks to olaplex. Absolutely love my hair, thank you so much!! X

After avoiding the hairdressers for more than 5 years because of bad experiences I decided to take the plunge. Gem was absolutely amazing and kept me in the loop about everything she was doing. I had booked in for a restyle and brought along a picture of what I was after.

I have come away feeling like a million bucks. All the staff were great and very welcoming.

I will definitely be back to see Gem. �

Went in for a blonde balayage with ombre hair made it very clear i wanted keep blonde as muvh as possible ended up walking out with black hair and grey/green ends that were very small charged me 140 pound and then charged me 40 pounds for hair cut 180 pounds i was crying when i left they did not do enoigh to correct shocking service also had ro pay twice 65 pound to another hairdresser i will be going taking legal action i have pictures and more than enough evidence to show
