Congratulations McKaila and Valerie! Our University of Glasgow Masters Museum Studies Interns submitted their theses last week. McKaila and Valerie were both placed at New Lanark on a voluntary basis as part of their Masters programme, and assisted with vital research, planning and build of exhibitions, and care of our collections during their time spent with us. Both of them were an absolute joy to have around and we wish them every success in the next steps of their careers in heritage! Thank you!

Visited today for Brick City with 4 adults and 4 kids aged 16, 14, 8 and 5. Yes the displays are not massive but they are fantastic all the same. It took us about 45 minutes to go round the 2 rooms, we are a lego loving family so every detail was appreciated. The kids loved the activity sheets and the selfie area.In the lego play room ALL members of the group had a ball and could have stayed longer building our creations haha. All round good day and staff were lovely as well.

User

This is my review for Brick City only. I had booked tickets for this before I discovered that you actually did autism friendly slots so I contacted you and was able to change the date of our visit. First of all a HUGE thank you for actually providing autism friendly slots in the first place because lego events are often very attractive to our lego obsessed children but sadly they are seldom catered for. I received a visual social story before the event so my grandchildren knew exactly what to expect from before they entered the building and when they did it wasn't too busy or too noisy but was just right. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and at the end of our time slot when asked what marks they would give their trip out of 10 the replies were 'millions', 'ten' and 'ten' so you can't ask for more than that! Thank you all.

User

Stayed over in the hotel on Friday night.Lovely room, great food dinner/ breakfast but most of all very friendly helpful staff.Textile exabition was fantastic and we enjoyed exploring the whole World Heritage Site.Definitely a 5 star experience!!!

User

Really enjoyed it, agree with comments 're Lego exhibit being poor however the 25% off entry to the other attractions made up for this. I would have liked to see the school as it should have been and the exhibit else where in the estate. The whole experience is fab and would recommend it to anyone.

User

Lanark Mill is a favourite place in our family and my 2 daughters took me here last Sunday for Mothers Day. We had a wonderful day and enjoyed the Textiles Exhibition and the amazing Heritage Afternoon Tea. Staff are so nice. My husband and I got a hotel voucher from the girls at Xmas and have just booked overnight at Easter. Cannot wait and would recommend 😊

User

I visited the Textiles Exhibition: From Picasso to Warhol" yesterday. What a fantastic attraction. Beautiful pieces of work on show, it was fascinating. Stunning surroundings, lots to see & do, lovely large cafe & fabulous shop. Will return for the Tapestry of Scotland exhibition.

User

Finally saw the artists textiles exhibition, excellent 10/10 highly recommend and please keep getting lots of different exhibitions they are fab and love how all so different, last year Lego this year textiles! Something for everyone keep up the good work

User

Fantastic! We came to see the Artists’ Textiles Exhibition, and loved it. Janet, who was working at reception, really enhanced our visit by being so knowledgeable and helpful. Her passion for New Lanark shines through, and made us realise that we need to visit this place often.

User

Fantastic day with my grandchildren aged 4 years and 8 months. Would recommend the Christmas experience. Santa was fantastic and a lovely gift was received. Went to the Panto to end our day. All round a great day and all the staff were so nice.

User

Excellent attraction. Well worth a visit. We did the guided tour at 2pm which was informative and amusing, thank you Lesli. Perfect four hours spent in wonderful surroundings.

User

Brilliant place to take children learn there history. Is a lovely family day out and if you want a longer visit there is a hotel , self catering Waterhouses and hostel on site. Thoroughly recommend.

User

Absolutely fabulous day out, we loved it. What is not to enjoy, the school was fabulous as was the Annie MacLeod Experience. The whole thing is so well put together and the staff are so helpful and knowledgeable x My 10 years old loved it x

User

Absolutely brilliant experience we loved it last year but loved it even more this year! Santa was brilliant best we have seen and special mention to the elf Jamie who was brilliant with my girls ages 7 and 5! Danced with them as well as reading them a story! Fabulous day and will will 10000% be back next year!

User

Stayed there for the weekend as it was our anniversary.

Absolutely loved the buildings but for me there was not enough focus on the engineering and mechanics and too much on Owen's fantastic work on improving the social aspect for his workers. We took the tour on Sunday and I don't think you could get a more enthusiastic and informative guide than Josh.

Pool, sauna and steam room were also used as were the walk up to Cora Linn.

2 great dinners and breakfasts, plus liquorice ice cream.

Added bonus for us was the Brick City lego exhibition.

Absolutely loved our stay.

User

Lovely family day out but the cafe is needing a lot more for the kids. Got my son the kids lunch box which had half a sandwich in it. Don't think it was worth the money

User

An excellent historical site with lots to see. You need all day just for the visitor centre, school and manager's house. Then there are all the woodland trails I still haven't been around yet. My only criticism is the scope of the visitor centre and tours, with most of the emphasis on the social history and living conditions of the workers (in particular the children). The actual science and engineering aspects of water power and weaving are largely ignored.

User

went yesterday to brick city , was really disappointed , definitely not worth the money. My 2 son's got bored and we left. For the long drive there you could easily be in the exhibit for 10mins. The play room was ok not much lego or blocks to play with in the little side room. The cafe is no better expensive for The tiny portions and hot food was not that nice. Left this experience feeling disappointed and wasteful of money!

User

Brick City only: Very underwhelmed. Cost is high only to get access to this event. Any other access to the site would have cost us even more. Appallingly poor selection of Lego in the shop, we would've been better spending the £45 and visiting the Lego shop. Really disappointed

User

Travelled from Edinburgh for the Easter event weekend. There was Easter crafts which was an extra £4 per child and toy workshop extra £2 per child. On top of the entrance cost to enter New Lanark. The Easter bunny was about but was difficult to find. No Easter decorations as shown in the advertising leaflets. Huge disappointment for the children.
