Next class is Saturday 10.30 to 11.30am! All levels of experience and fitness welcome. £6 per session and we have all the kit you need available to borrow. No need to book in advance, just pop in. Easy🙌

This popped up on my timeline this morning, right before I stepped in to host my first ever Women's Boxing and Well-being Workshop day. To think that this was only two years ago is absolutely incredible.
Rewind 2 years ago today and we had no idea where we were going, we didn't have a new unit, we just knew that we had to get out by end of the year as we could not afford the rent price increase that was being proposed. We had no idea this sign was being erected, we arrived e...arly at work one Friday to find it being fitted, we hadn't planned to tell anyone about our move until we had a unit secured and suddenly we had no choice. Everything just seemed so out of our control and it would have been much easier to just pack it in and give up.
I am so, so eternally grateful that we didn't. We cried, dug deep, bit down on our hypothetical gum shields and headed into battle. It was show time.
And here we are. 2 years later. Stronger, wiser and improved.
Growth is painful, change is laborious and adversity is exhausting but perseverance is powerful. The message of today's workshop was about strength and recognising our strengths. For this to appear right before we started today's workshop was the reaffirmation I needed that adversity, when harnessed can breed strength and resilience.
Thank you to each and every one of you who has stood in our corner and supported us over the years <3 Combat is not an individual encounter - it's a true team effort.

Martial Arts & Wellbeing have a long standing heritage and for good reason. Training promotes resilience, it teaches us we are not made of glass, it affords us a platform to step out side of our comfort zone whilst remaining in a safe environment, it tests our integrity and perhaps most importantly - it feels good. It's time to say goodbye...to single use plastic bottles! We are challenging everyone, including ourselves, to remove single use bottles from the gym by 1st of August 2018.
We reckon we can do it! Help us get there by bringing along a reusable bottle and take advantage of the mains water available to refill!
Lost your water bottle? Check out the lost and found located in the changing room :) There are a good few in there.
... In the last year we have replaced paper towels with washable hand towels, replaced our strip lights to low usage LED lights, done away with providing bottled water instead providing access to our fully fitted kitchen to refill and all heating is provided by our eco friendly boiler.

Started off in October going to ladies boxing on a Saturday morning for a change from running - since then Jill, Davey and Jamie have built up my confidence and technique far enough to attend all the boxing and kickboxing mixed classes and start sparring. I'm the fittest I've been in years and would thoroughly recommend the community spirit in the gym as an incentive for coming along if you're not sure if ladies boxing is for you. Since I started in October loads of girls have came in to try the boxing, unsure whether it was for them and they haven't looked back since. Everyone's there to support each other and we all encourage each other to push ourselves each class. I'd definitely say a warm welcome is guaranteed at Newlife Ladies. It's been a total fitness game changer for me from a personal, social and physical point of view. Can't thank the team at Newlife and boxing girls enough for the weekly sessions of sweaty banter.

The owners David and Jill are extremely welcoming and friendly, they encourage you to try to new things and provide a clean and safe environment to train in. I went along to the ladies classes wanting to learn a bit of boxing and now I'm totally addicted, going to mixed classes and starting to try my hand at jiujitsu. All the members are very friendly, and the classes cater to all ranges of experiences. Best thing I ever did was join up!

Jill is amazing! All you have to do is read my blog posts to see how I feel about New Life. I have never been in a more supportive or comfortable fitness environment before. I only needed a few of sessions with Jill to find my fitness/running stride again and get back to training! Awesome!!!!!

The ladies classes are amazing and all coaches ensure that the needs of everyone in the group are met, we are a bit of rogue bunch, all ages, diff fitness levels but everyone encourages each other and there is a real community spirit in the gym! If you have been thinking about trying out a class, time to do it!
