Trip out to newton farm yesterday , fished about 4/5 hours and had 6 to the net and lost/missed just as many , probably the best fighting fish I've caught since started flyfishing , the fish were moving all over the place and John was true to his word about the shelter from the wind ,all the fish were all caught on a cat's whisker type fly with an orange bead head, great place and it's safe to say I'll defo be back , keep up the good work

User

Took my first trip to newton yesterday after hearing about how good it was and I can honestly say it lived up to the hype. Excellent place caught 4 with one being my PB a double brownie. John was was very welcoming and full of great advice. Will definitely be back

User

Newton is a great well looked after and well run fishery with the highest quality of trout stocked weekly. I visited Newton on Saturday and had a great time, keeping 2 and returning 4. I started using lures but to no avail then changed to sink tip floater with Diawl Bach's and Red Head Pheasant tail nymph and bingo I found what they were looking for. Thoroughly enjoyed my 4hrs at Newton with fishing friends. Will be back soon.

I recommend Newton to any Anglers who have not paid a visit yet, you don't know what your missing.

User

Great fishery, John always tries his best to help his customers catch. Top quality fish too

User

Great first time visit today and it certainly won't be the last. Beautifully managed fishery with plenty of features in the water. The fish are the best, great fighters and full fins and tails. The owner John is very helpful and gives advice to make sure you have the best chance of catching. My husband had three fish for 10lb 8oz and I had two for 7lb 10oz. The two best were 6lb 1oz and 5lb 10oz. Great value for money and a nice friendly bunch of anglers. Thanks for the coffee and first aid John. See you soon.

User

Good fishing even though the conditions were against us. Still managed to get a bit of stalking done producing 4 fish and losing 2. Will definitely be back to see John and newton farm when the weather is perfect one evening.

User

Fished with 2 of my Friends yesterday for the first time. Beautiful fishery lovely hard fighting trout. Also caught a couple big ones will definitely be back.

User

First trip to newton for myself, few club members have previous visits had a excellent day everyone catching, 2 big ones caught today one killed at 11ib 6 and other returned but estimated around 8ib mark. I will return to this place 500% we are planning our next trip already as we fancy doing a night rise here!

User

First time down at Newton today and it didn't disappoint. John was great at providing upto date info leading upto our travel down from Aberdeen.

Whilst the water clarity wasn't what I hear it usually is i.e crystal clear. I was still able to deploy my favourite method - stalking with small weighted nymphs. My very first cast of the day produced a spanking 7.5lber. 8 more then followed over the next few hours, all of which were fun perfect and serious fighters. All fell to size 16-18 ceramic nymphs. I'm sure Kohn will agree that the little Epic 376 got a workout.

We will be back for sure to see what lurks when the water is crystal clear. Thanks again John!

User

First time at Newton and its a lovely wee water. Day was difficult with some ice on the water and frost around for most of the day, did manage a brace for over 9lbs with a nice 7lber that made some lovely fillets. Highly recommend a visit and John Callison the owner is a nice, honest guy and always willing to throw out some helpful tips and advice. Will definately return. 🖒

User

Finally got round to fishing newton and it was worth the wait. Lost 2 and caught 2 a blue at 2and half lb and a rainbow for 5lb.

It was a hard going day/evening and frustrating as there were fish moving all over the place but not taking anything. I noticed a boy who had lost a couple so asked what he was fishing and line etc. He was a regular and pointed me in the right direction and gave me a fly called a sedghog 5 cast later I was into my first fish and lost it. A couple of cast later into another one and lost that u was thinking this wasn't going to happen. But my luck changed and finally got one then got my second one landed aswell in as many casts. Missed a fair few aswell. My only bad point for the place is I have an hours drive to get there ha

User
