Nhs Greater Glasgow And Clyde Description
Our purpose is to deliver effective and high quality health services, to act to improve the health of our population and to do everything we can to address the wider social determinants of health which cause health inequalities.
Responsible for the provision and management of the whole range of health services in this area including hospitals and General Practice, we work alongside partnership organisations including Local Authorities and the voluntary sector. We serve a population of 1. 1 million and employs around 38, 000 staff – we are the largest NHS organisation in Scotland and one of the largest in the UK.

Gartnavel General, General Surgery.
As a man in their late 40s and never been in hospital for surgery since I was 4.
... I was more than satisfied with my admission to Gartnavel Hospital to have general surgery.
From my admission to the way I was dealt with as I was very nervous about the whole procedure and that was clearly picked up by all the staff and nurses.
I could not fault anyone.
The surgeon I had was great and made me feel so at ease with the whole procedure.
To the nurses who came and checked on me all through the night.
The surgeon came back the next morning to check my wound and explain everything he had done, and also gave me a bit of a laugh.
Even my discharge from hospital was quick and everything explained I had to do regarding my wound.
Honestly could not fault anyone from admission into the surgical unit to all the staff in ward 4a.

Suitable for anyone aged between 16 and 30 who is currently not in employment or education/returning to education who wants to begin a career as a Healthcare Support Worker (Nursing Assistant/Auxiliary Nurse) with the NHS.
