My name is Nichola Cooney and I have been the proud mother to my beautiful daughter for the past five years. I also have a step daughter and as you can see from this photo, they are just fab! I also have a baby boy.
My daughter has now started school and that's what made me decide to become a childminder.
I worked as a sales consultant for a highlandwear company for 10 years but due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to leave that position.
After thinking long and hard about what I would like to do as a career, it really was a no brainer. I just love kids! Seemed like the obvious choice.
I have younger siblings and there is a seven year age gap between us so started my childcare very early! I loved helping my mum with the feeding, bathing, changing and general care of my little brother and sister. My little brother, Matthew, has Aspergers so needed that extra bit of care but it was never a chore, it was a privilege and my feelings to childcare have never changed. I loved looking after them and playing games with them. Seeing how happy it made them made it all worth while.
I grew up in a very large family and was always caring for and babysitting my little cousins. I have a niece who is eleven now and have looked after her on many occasions. Whether it has just been for the day or overnight, it is always a joy! They grow up so quickly that I take every oppertunity I can get!
Children are small for such a short amount of time and each moment of their young years is so precious. It takes a lot of love, encouragment and time to mould our little ones into confident and happy adults we all wish them to be.

As a childminder, I aim to treat each child I care for as an extended member of my own family and will see it as a privilege to care for them.
I promise to nurture their natural talents, encourage them to work hard and hopefully impart some knowlege that will help turn them into happy and confident individuals.
