Hi There,
I’m getting in touch regarding a free art workshop that we’re running in Lanarkshire on Sunday 14 October that I thought some of your children or young people (aged 8-25) might be interested in getting involved with - working alongside artist Aerial Killick
I'm Volunteering as a "Young Champion" for a Project called ScotArt.
... As 2018 is the year of young people (And what a year it's been!) We thought 2018 should end in style! And that's where ScotArt comes in.
ScotArt is a nationwide youth engagement project that’s asking young people (aged 8-26) living in 14 regions of Scotland to identify an iconic image or symbol that represents why or what they love about their region.
Each symbol will be made into an incredible wicker sculpture by our Lead Artist and showcased at the Edinburgh Torchlight Procession, to mark the finale of Scotland’s Year of Young People.
To find out each region’s symbol, Young Champions (myself included) all over Scotland are leading workshops in which through discussion and debate, a symbol shall be chosen. Following this, the participants will have an opportunity to work with our Lead Artist and make their own artwork out of wicker, wire and spraypaint.
The regional workshop for Lanarkshire will be taking place in North Lanarkshire at the Sumerlee Museum, Coatbridge between 11-4 on Sunday 14 October. This is a fabulous opportunity for young people to really be involved in the design & creation of the symbol while having some fun and creating their own keepsake.
This is also a fabulous way for young people to take part in the many opportunities Year of Young People 2018 has brought.
I would really appreciate your assistance in spreading the word so that I will be able to deliver the workshop I've been working on!
Beth (Young Ambassador)
