The only reason why I added a star was to make this review possible to upload. Please save yourselves the time, energy, money and frustration and never visit this shop!
My partner and I took them a ring for resizing - a job which we knew was complicated because of the enamel fills across the top of the ring. A very polite technician said the job would damage the enamel but he would be able to replace it, perhaps with slightly different colors, which was fine with us. I was told it would take about a week.
I went to the shop 4 times (over 4 consecutive weeks) and the ring was never ready. Every time there was a good excuse e.g. 'we were very busy' or 'I didn't have the right colors' but they never bothered to give me a courtesy call about the delay. Before the 4th visit I actually called before going in but the person on the phone couldn't find my paperwork and couldn't put me through to the technician. (I am not very clear whether the technician had finished for the day or not.)
I called back the next day and was told that the ring was ready and I could go and collect it. When I went in the shop, the gentleman at the reception said that he didn't know where the ring was. I asked if he could maybe look for it which he reluctantly did and upon returning to the reception desk he repeated that he didn't know where the ring was and that he didn't expect me that day! I reminded him that it was him who I spoke to on the phone and who gave me the update that the ring was ready. At no point he apologized for the confusion (which clearly wasn't caused by me) instead he got progressively annoyed and gave me blase responses such as 'What can I say madam, we are not a good shop!' I tried for one last time to explain that this is NOT good service and he got up and started switching off lights, closing doors and shutters and put his jacket on. In disbelief, I asked if he was throwing me out and he said that there was nothing else to discuss and he had to catch his train. It was only 17:40 and the website suggests that they were closing at 18:00 that day!
My partner went in the shop the next day to collect the ring and had an equally unpleasant discussion with the same gentleman who at no point took responsibility about the delays, the confusion or his behavior the day before.
When we left the shop and took a look at the ring we were horrified to discover that the work done is of such low quality, that there is no way I can wear this ring in its present form. There are scratches in a few areas where it looks like someone tried to remove enamel (or other material) leak, the enamel replacement itself is so badly done that you can see clear signs of spillage beyond the boundaries of where it originally sat and in one place there's a very visible 'bubble' at the surface like it wasn't heated properly -when I put my finger on it, it was slightly sticky!
The technician, although a lovely gentleman, should not have taken the responsibility to perform such a complicated task if he had doubts about it.
The gentleman at the reception seriously needs to rethink his approach to difficult situations. Closing the door on a customer does NOT make a business look good and he should have known that.

I am very pleased with my wedding ring and engagement ring from Northern Diamond. The service and customer care is excellent and I would fully recommended to anyone looking for beautiful jewellery.
