Not Just Another Ph.D Description
The 'Not Just Another PhD' blog originally started as a reflective tool for me to think about my PhD as I went along through it. But as I started sharing more about my experiences, I found a lot of other people were experiencing the same things. Lots of posts - particularly ones discussing how to deal with problems - were getting a lot of hits but not a lot of discussion.
I felt that by broadening the accessibility of the blog, it makes it easier for discussion to happen. How many people are sitting there thinking "I've only read X amount of papers, so-and-so reads three times that in a week! I'm so far behind! " The answer? Pretty much all of us. Having that shared experience and knowing you're not the only one can be great reassurance but also teach you that you know more than you think you do. It's only once I started discussing these things on the blog I realised I'd picked up more than I thought!
Not Just Another PhD is somewhere I hope to address all the day-to-day PhD-survival tips I think are essential for completing your thesis. That includes going over the difficult stuff as well as random bits of humour and lolcats.
