Well now I am a bit confused, it appears Oakwood Restaurant has two pages!! One with a profile picture of our seafood trio of Hot Smoked salmon, crab & langoustine, and the other a rathe good picture of the Caledonian Canal. I will be attempting to close done the latter so only the one page is active. Wish me luck!!!!

Now into our off season opening hours, thought I had already put this on the page, but hey ho, you know what I am like with technology. We are now closed Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday. Also please remember if we do not have booking we do tend to close at 7pm - so let us know if your coming... Also for anyone wanting to do Christmas shopping on days we are closed, just give us a ring and we will open up for you.. just like the Queen!

News update. We are delighted once again to have been shortlisted as one of the finalists in 'Casual dining' for the North Region of Scotland in 'The hospitality Awards 2018'. This is the 4th year - but always been the bridesmaid, never the bride!! (Giggle) For this we have to thank all those who have taken the time to vote for us. A VERY BIG THANK YOU.
I love what we do, we meet so many very special people on a daily basis, our locals almost all of whom we feel are friend...s and I so much enjoy this time of year when I have time to get out of the kitchen to chat. Our visitors who take the 'weather' risk at this time of year, one especially I would like to thank for showing me what a drone can do - it was so impressive! So a big thank you to Dan Brown & his lovely lady.
The season will soon be underway so I take this opportunity to thank one and all for their valued custom and friendship.

Happy Mother's day to all Mums. A big sorry to all those we were not able to seat, it is the one day that fills up very early - 'cos doesn't everyone love their mother! But we all know, it doesn't have to be Mother's Day to show your mum she's special, so we hope to see you soon.

Gift fair was good to us, and we have brought back some new stock as well as new colours and designs in the Harris Tweed range which will be coming in over the next few weeks. New Items for us will be Shetland collection in rich colourways of sage, brick, berry & aqua, rustic style throws in a pure new wool quality from Bronte by Moon. We are also delighted to have found whisky barrel picture frames that we think will you will love. They are numbered so if you go to Whisky ...Frames website you can discover which distillery it came from .. Cool eh!
From Rowallan Leather we have some new styles and ranges along with re-stocking the most popular ranges, we think the new SAFARI large weekend bag will be a winner at the price! Some of the leather has already come in, here's a sample.
We have not taken on anymore Alpaca or Harris Tweed coats which are now in the sale, so don't miss out if you in the market for one!

Just to let you guys know, we will be closed 15th - 18th January as we are having the restaurant re-painted, it is looking a bit tired to say the least. Re-open Friday 18th looking ready for the season ahead - hope will meet with your approval! Also we will be closed on Sunday 21st January for our visit to the gift fair to ensure our gift shop is stocked with the latest fashion & designs in Harris Tweed & leather - always at the very best prices. New stocks will arrive soon after.....

Wonderful food and lovely service :) The best local food we've had so far and if you are ever going north even remotely close by, step in for good food.

What a fantastic and quirky place! Lovely friendly people who served and welcomed us making us very comfortable!

Very clean toilets and cute little mini towels for drying your hands! (Being pregnant I like to spend a lot of my time in the toilets �)

And the food... well I am a bit of a food snob and I thought it was amazing!!

My fiancé had chicken stroganoff - he said it was very good!

I had the salmon dish and it was beautiful, if I didn’t live 3 hours away this would be my new place to eat out!

This is a fantastic restaurant for anyone seeking traditional home cooked Scottish fayre. The owners are good hosts and tend to your evening at Oakwood with great care.



The food is absolutely outstanding, making the very best of the fresh local ingredients they pride themselves on using. Absolutely worth staying for 3 courses. You won't regret it!



A quick note, this is not a licensed premises, so you will need to bring your own alcohol. There is no corkage charged though, so it allows you to spend what you want on drinking what you want.



If you are anywhere near the area, a meal at Oakwood is well worth your time. Highly recommended.

This had been recommended to my partner by a work colleague, no expectations on my part, we were bowled over by the fabulous menu, seafood, venison, beef, lamb all sourced in the Highlands. Scallops to start with bacon, main of halibut, and a cranachan to end for me, my partner had the haggis starter, a special of roasted venison and Orkney cheesecake to round off. Utterly divine, you must go visit these people. We will be back, because that is the sort of menu that needs to be ticked off dish by dish. Family run, simple surroundings and just the best food.

One of the best restaurants in Scotland. A cosy, friendly place with superb meals. Their whiskey cake is the best cake I have ever had!

My family and I love coming here. The hosts are always welcoming and warm and the food always hits a much needed comfort spot. Great choice, portions and value for money .

It is a lovely place to dine in.We had a warm welcome by the amazing owner/staff who had a great sense of humour.His jokes made our day!

The restaurant is beautifully decorated by a chain of mugs and scarves.Also, there is a cute little gift shop inside.

Had the pleasure of dining at The Oakwood Restaurant with 8 other friends last evening. I have to say the meal was superb and the scallops were to die for! As for the Creme Brûlée, well can’t praise this enough. Prepared the French way and absolutely gorgeous, made with the addition of honey and whiskey. I thought I’d died and gone to heaven! The owners were friendly and nothing was too much trouble! Definitely going back in February for Sunday lunch! Thanks again for a lovely evening.

Absolutely fantastic place to experience authentic Scottish food. Friendly, welcoming and attentive hosts using fresh, delicious local ingredients treated with a huge amount of care and respect to create some amazing dishes. An absolute must if you're anywhere near the area.

Absolutely fabulous food. It was recommended to us and we are so pleased it was. The exterior belays the food. It is not licenced so you can take your own alcohol and they don't charge for corkage. We will definitely be back.

...It has been 8 years since Jayne and I have eaten here. In the intervening years, I have waffled on to anyone who'd listen about the scallops and the Highland Park cheesecake. Well, I can honestly say that both are still as perfect as I remember, and the venison and Aberdeen Angus really are among the finest foods I have ever tasted from any restaurant. I strongly suspect that any food you select will be just as delicious TBH �. Please do pay a visit if you are in the area, you will not be disappointed...
