Really friendly staff, and excellent breakfast. Highly recommended the haggis that comes with the cooked breakfast. Great for the conference guests attending the local SAMS institution.
Lovely location by the waterfront with a very short walk to town, and we got the room at quite a reasonable price which was clean and very comfortable. We had some issues with the shower which intermittently switched itself off, and the breakfast was pretty limited for the price and came with slightly undercooked eggs. The bar was also pretty expensive with no visible pricelist, £20+ for a G&T and a whisky double was a bit of a shock the next day.
4 night stay in Oban. Great place to stay if you have 2 or more children as you don't need to book 2 rooms like most hotels. Fantastic location in the heart of Oban Bay. Staff were great, always happy to help out. Breakfast was standard continental, could have had croissants/pastries, Bar/Coffee really handy option. Rooms were what we expected, kids loved the bunk beds, the only downside was the size of the bathroom, tiny is an understatement! If you're looking for a luxury hotel then this is not for you but if you are looking for a place to stay that is central, laid back, straightforward and above all fantastic value then this is it.
Would definitely stay again.

Make sure you bring superman to carry your bags up the spiral stair (no lift) or if the bar person is free they might offer to help (gender based).. oh yeah no gravity feed flushing of the toilet-keep pumping the handle as we have been told. Seems that 1 pump = ~ 1cup pf water or there abouts. Good luck. Would not want to be housekeeping.
We ate at the restaurant and it was some of the best seafood, treated with love and care by the chef that we have ever tasted. It's worth the trip from miles away, and the beautiful harbour of Oban for your after dinner constitutional! Highly recommended, very attentive staff.
At the Oban bay hotel I found the best food ever. The menu is changed each day and i was well served. What more can you ask for.😎😎😎
Nice hotel a stone throw from the city's centre. Quite friendly staff, ok lobby area and bar. Outside hot tub and SPA department. The size of the room is standard European and clean. Good bed. The bathroom is not the most impressive, with old style. But it does its job. The most negative is the lack of noise reduction between the rooms.
Just returned from a long weekend here. A cracking place to stay.
If you bring your 4-legged friend, even better.
We had our breakfast in the lounge with ours, as dogs are understandably not allowed in the dining area.
Lounge and conservatory, both, have marvellous views. We were served by 1st-class staff. Special shout-out to Attila, here.
Room: spacious, warm, with generous-sized amenities. Bed: very comfortable. Veggie breakfast : very good.
Parking is limited outside the premises, but available nearby. Decor: slightly faded grandeur, but didn't bother me. Many more positives than negatives. Overall, would recommend, and will return.
Clean room, friendly staff, good views, great location. We stayed in room 3. Negatives: Bed was unbelievably uncomfortable (knackered), no parking available for just unloading and booking was messed up.
All hotel rates in Scotland have been on a sharp upward trend in recent times, so price was typical in this respect. Hoteliers should take a long hard look at whether their rates are acceptable for amenities given before deciding whether they should rob their customers or not.
