Oban Fish And Chip Shop

Out of all the fish & chip shops we visited in Oban, this was the best for food, service and atmosphere. I had Sea Bass on my 1st visit which was superb, and Haddock the next which was excellent. The chips are some of the best I've had anywhere, and my companions had the Mac & cheese which I'm told was brilliant! Friendly staff and welcoming service make this probably Oban's best. Fair to say that our experience was from "eating in" both times but I'm sure the same can be said for their "takeaway" service. A very busy chippie and no wonder!

Great fish, fried to order. Selection of different fish - the hake was fantastic, served with lemon and they make their own tartar sauce . Really good chips too.
They have a few tables but be prepared to wait.

So good we forgot to take a photo till the last bite. Confession: we actually went to the place down the street and ordered, started eating, and realized we'd made a mistake. So we left half a plate of food behind and came here instead. SO glad we did. Good service and great food.

Best fish and chips we have ever had. Made fresh to order, both were not overly greasy like most chippys. I'd highly recommend it!

Great experience. Arrived at a busy time so had to wait a short time for a table. Very attentive staff. Lovely meal of fish and chips - very generous portion which tasted superb. Chips looked a little pale but were very tasty and all freshly cooked.

Having walk past many times before, I finally decided to pop in, and I wish I had done so sooner!

The fish batter was golden, the fish inside was full of flavour, and the chips complemented it perfectly.

The owner was friendly, and initiated a chat, he seems like a genuine guy doing a job that he loves. The staff that served me initially we equally friendly.

I can't recommend this place enough - give it a try!

Best fish and chips I've had. Almost £10 for a large cod supper but so worth it. Every chip was perfect, light and crispy, with the cod being really full of flavour and lots of it. Partner had the haggis supper and raved about it.

Sat down quickly, but moved people already there to accommodate. Ordered quickly, but didn't get our appetizers for another 40 minutes. Sat for another 20 minutes as other people who came much later than us began to get served. After we had waited 30 minutes for our food we decided to take out our order and got a lesser price. You could get salt and vinegar, but all other condiments costed 30p each. Although there was very poor service the fish and chips were good.

Great fish and chips for fair price. If you visiting the town and want a nice meal you should check it out. For me the smaller portion was more than enough.

Absolutely outstanding, have worked nr Oban over the summer and eaten here regularly. Never had a bad meal quite the opposite, charming staff and amazing food try it!

User

Probably the nicest fish and chips I have ever eaten! Will definitely eat there again if I'm in the area!

Lovely chips but I've never experienced a steak pie that was black inside because it had sat so long. This chip shop is recommended in the Rick Steves travel guide but I'd hazard a guess Rick visited on a good day!! Absolutely vile avoid at all costs
