About Ocean Spice

INDIANS LOVE FOOD. . As Indians we love food and we love to feed others. If you have had the pleasure of eating in a traditional Indian home you would have most likely left with a tupperware of take-aways. It is staggering how much we cook and there is often plenty left over. Nothing brings me more delight than sharing what I have cooked with my friends. There is often more than two people at my dinner table and these are familiar faces. These are my friends as we spend time catching up sharing the food prepared and often loads of laughter! If you thought one curry is good enough, think again. . . This is not the case among Indian people. We often cook more than one curry and if that does not fill you up, our chapattis, naans, parathas and rice will certainly do the trick! REGIONAL FOOD- Indian cuisine is quite diverse. The diversity is best classified on the basis of the various communities. Most of the food is vegetarian but with the higher Christian and Muslim population, non-vegetarian dishes are also common. The Hindus have a predominantly vegetarian cuisine, whilst the Christian and the Muslim communities have a largely non-vegetarian cuisine. The Syrian Christian dishes and Mougul Muslim dishes are famous. Since Suthern part of India, main export is coconuts, almost all of the dishes, irrespective of the variety in the cuisines of the different communities, have coconuts associated with them, either in the form of shavings or oil extracted from the nut. Seafood is also very popular in the coastal regions and eaten almost every day.
