Hindu Mandir in Glasgow is an excellent place for Glasgow Indians to spend some time and feel like in India.. during Diwali they have huge celebrations with loads for fire crackers as well..
I visit this temple once every two years. Today, I brought a non-indian friend here to show her the various gods and goddesses. We sat one the bench taking in the solitude and after a while, made our way to the exit. The Chief priest who was holding court with 4 other people noticed us and called out out a greeting asking us to take an offering. It was impolite to say no, or so I thought, and we went over. The Priest then asked intrusive questions of me (what work do you do? Which company do you work in? where are you from? How long have you been here?)He then asked me questions about my friend and then made a personal remark about my appearance. I was totally unprepared and felt violated by this man who was asking me questions in front of strangers. I hope the temple management will train this guy properly on conduct. This is NOT India, it is the UK. Please follow social interaction practises that are the norm here!
Holy place and many Hindu festivals are celebrated with excellent spirit.
Loved it. !! Sunday is busy with discourses and can be bit crowded. Sunday it closes in afternoon
