Orkney Rugby Football Club beat eventual league winners Gordonian RFC 14-13 but it was not enough to stay in National 3. It was probably the best performance Orkney has produced this season. Congratulations to Gordonians.

The latest Orkney Farmer magazine is out in the shops.Featuring the Harray Young Farmers 80th birthday, aquaculture in Westray, St Andrews School visit to Millburn Farm, 45 years of breeding goats, Bere whisky and 40 years of Crystalyx. But the best is when we visited 100 year old Maisie Rendall an amazing lady with an equally amazing story to tell. That is just some of what is in this edition of Orkney Farmer. Hope you enjoy it.

Orkney Rugby Football Club Under 16s were in action on Sunday against Huntly RFC Under 16s. All the boys did well playing in spells of very heavy downpours and blustery conditions.

Locals and visitors alike met at the Longhope Lifeboat Museum to remember the lost crew of the Longhope Lifeboat. Fifty years ago the Lifeboat was responding to a shout to attend the MV Irene which had ran in to difficulties off the coast of South Ronaldsay.... Over 150 people attended the memorial in the museum then on to the very moving ceremony at the cemetery where wreaths were laid by the present crew and local dignities. Finally everyone met in the YM in the Longhope village where amongst the speeches four relatives of the crew played "The Heroes of Longhope".
