Some of the charm of the Outer Hebrides is the single track roads. However, they can be dangerous to cyclists and frustrating for drivers who are behind slow drivers!
Passing places are designed to keep the traffic flowing and we have a few asks so that traffic flows safely:
1. Please pull into the passing places to let traffic pass ... 2. If you are behind a cyclist, please be patient and wait until they can pull into a passing place for you to pass safely 3. If you are travelling on a double track road just pull into the nearest parking spot and let traffic pass (some roads are not straight and it is difficult to overtake)
Remember that folk are perhaps travelling to work, attending an emergency or rushing to catch a ferry!
Have a happy and safe holiday!
