This Friday, a wonderful #Outlander experience has been put together in Fort William. Tickets are limited, so if you're going to be in the area, please book early to avoid missing out. You'll read letters written by Lord Lovat and Bonnie Prince Charlie, and a great deal more. The event is being held jointly by the West Highland Museum, who are absolutely superb, and the Lochaber Archive Centre who, along with Highland Archive Centre, hold some of the most important records in Scottish history.

Some more fun today with our group. We're at the Highland Township where they filmed the #Outlander 'Rent' episode.
One of our gang was very confused about whether she's a Redcoat or a Jacobite and eventually settled on being both.
Andy was flashing his knee again too!
... Plus we saw a gorgeous redhead... with horns.

A fun night and super end to day one of a bespoke Outlander tour. The men played golf while we looked after the 16 ladies and ended the day with 32 over a delicious 4 course dinner. Much banter and laughter was had as the band played Scottish pieces. Tomorrow we take them on another adventure.

On a bespoke #Outlander tour today with a group of 16 who are just about to enjoy an afternoon tea at Culloden House Hotel.

#CawdorCastle - The family seat of the Cawdor family and home to the Cawdor (or Calder/Kawdor, meaning woodland stream) family to this day. The Cawdor family still own the castle and occupy it in the winter.
Though not directly linked to Outlander, the castle is an excellent example of the type of clan castle referenced in the book that inspired the series.
Cawdor Castle has evolved over 600 years into a fantastic example of a private fortress. It has a medieval tower built ...around the legendary holly tree. Later additions, mainly from the 17th century, were all built in a Scottish style with slated roofs over walls and crow-stepped gables of local stone.
Cawdor Castle dates from 1370 and was built as a private fortress by the Thanes of Cawdor (Sheriffs of Nairn), a family made famous by Shakespeare's play "MacBeth" (written in 1606). It was written with a narrative of witches, prophesy, treason, execution and murder – all things that fascinated King James VI (and I of England) to the point of obsession.
Lord Macbeth was King of Scotland in 1040, and the Castle is the site where he reputedly murdered his predecessor, King Duncan.
William, Thane of Cawdor was friends with King James II of Scotland who granted a special licence to build the castle with turrets and defensive works. In 1454 James granted the Thane of Cawdor permission to crenellate a tower (to fortify it and add battlements) on condition that he be allowed to come and go without hindrance.
Photos taken with Di's mobile (Andy's will follow). Fantastic place to visit - the grounds are spectacular too...

Went out at 6am to watch the Dolphins. Saw mum and baby chasing salmon. Back to the caravan to enjoy a big slap-up breakfast which will keep us going until tonight. Off out exploring today...
Loving our week off... it was much needed. We only had two days off between 23rd April and last Monday.
