Outlet Arts

About Outlet Arts

An arts organisation based in Govan, Glasgow which helps young and emerging performance-based artists in Glasgow.

Outlet Arts Description

Outlet Arts was founded in 2010 when a group of actors, film makers and writers struggled to find an affordable place to rehearse and try out their ideas. We felt that this was a common problem faced by young and emerging creatives in Glasgow; limiting opportunities and the development of talent. We also wanted a creative hub and a place where artists could feel they were part of a supportive community.

Along with six other collectives, we share a space in Govan under the umbrella name of Glasgow Theatre and Arts Collective (GTAC). The space has a 10mX8m rehearsal hall, a kitchen, an office and storage facilities. Outlet Arts has use of the main space for up to 14 hours per week.

If you want to become a member of Outlet arts, you can download a form at: http://outletarts. wordpress.com/membership /. It is £5 per year for membership.

Once you have become a member we can arrange to make the space available for £3. 50 per hour. The hourly rate is there so that we can maintain running costs, but our ultimate aim is for the space to be used for free.

We are looking for those who work primarily in film and performance based art forms, who would otherwise find it difficult to fund a space to practice in. We focus mainly on those who are emerging but already have some background experience in the arts and want to further develop their practice. We do however take an open minded approach and would encourage applicants to explain why they think they need our support.

In addition Outlet Arts run regular events that promotes the creative work of our members and encourages collaboration between artists.
