Oxenfoord Livery Yard

About Oxenfoord Livery Yard

We are a family-run livery yard situated on a working farm, offering a warm and friendly welcome no matter what style or discipline of riding you do.

Oxenfoord Livery Yard Description

Located just off the A68 between Dalkeith and Pathhead in Midlothian, we are easily reached from the centre of Edinburgh and the bypass. Postcode: EH37 5TY.

Grazing
Year-round grazing and daily turnout is available for all liveries.

Fields are sectioned with electric tape into paddocks suitable for groups of 3-5 horses or ponies. We try to keep consistent, compatible groups of same-sex horses to give stability and avoid injuries.

Stabling
Generous-sized internal dutch-barn type stables are available for DIY, part and full liveries.

Livery
Full /part livery is available by arrangement. DIY livery includes your straw and hay or haylage. A limited number of grass liveries are also available.

Facilities
We have 2 floodlit outdoor schools which can be used by all liveries, both surfaced with rubber /sand and the larger school has recently been re-drained, re-fenced and re-surfaced.

Other facilities include a kitchen and lounge for liveries to use; individual secure tack rooms; trailer / horsebox parking; disabled WC.

Hacking
Liveries can take advantage of the great hacking in the area.

Stunning scenery is visible from the grass tracks around the farm's fields, which link to further off-road tracks, quiet roads and the nearby Tyne Esk Trail through Vogrie Country Park.

Struggle with nerves at a show? Fear stopping your progression? Our horses pick up on so much from us. If we lack confidence it can reflect in them. Join us for a talk from Mindset Coach, BD Judge and local Rider Sarah Maclean. Places are limited to please contact through the event rather than messaging the yard.
See you there!!

I've uploaded some photographs taken on Friday by one of our liveries. She sent me a small selection of the many she took and has asked that if you'd like any she took of you and your horse, you can get in touch with her directly.
Either on FB or via email. Big thanks to Marianne Farish for not only taking so many lovely photos for us, but also helping during the evening and the big tidy up at the end.

Equine Influenza Policy
In view of the recent outbreaks in England and Scotland we would like to inform all visitors that we will be putting in place spot checks on horse passports for those attending events at our yard.
We will be reminding clients that we need up to date Equine Flu Vaccinations at time of booking for events, clinics, arena hire etc. We will also be checking before unloading horses on to our yard.
... In addition, we will be advising all outside bookings/hires/visiting instructors of the need to comply with this policy. If you do not comply you will not be allowed to unload and will be asked to leave the premises.
This policy will come into effect immediately and will be reviewed regularly to ensure it is in line with veterinary recommendations.
Many thanks
