Reading about gridlock at Cornish beaches this summer - this was the view at the other end of the country when we took a trip along the north coast.

A very happy and prosperous new year to everyone who has stayed ay Oystercatchers and to everyone who is coming this year.

And this one with the lights over Ben Bhraggie.

We managed to get a few very amateur pics of the aurora last Tuesday night. Too much moonlight but even our very poor camera skills couldn't miss this much going on.

Our guests this week sent this photo of an Autumn evening at Dornoch beach. Hope they get clear skies for the northern lights expected tonight.

It's been a beautiful sunny week at Skelbo. We're always happier when someone is enjoying the cottage when we can't so for the available weeks between now and October the 14th we're offering a 12% discount on the weekly rates advertised at https://www.oystercatchersdornoch.com/pri cing-and-availabi…/

Wandering through the dunes of Coul Links between Oystercatchers and the sea and wondering what's going on with plans to turn this into a golf course. Butterflies, startled deer and just birdsong to break the silence. Time well spent.

Popped over to Handa on the west coast last week - coast to coast saw 12 vehicles - virtually gridlock! A very blue sea and a host of seabirds at the end of the journey. Brilliant.

A brilliant blue-sky week at Oystercatchers. Though sheep still on the loose the improved defences kept the garden free of bleating and right for eating.

This summer the garden has been in danger of turning into a wildlife park with peak mole activity and invading stray sheep trying hard to demolish the dry stone wall. Hopefully, having "entertained" our guests, the culprits have been rounded up and we can start repairing the damage. Shame though as the delicate vegetation growing on that wall had taken years to establish.

Sent by our guests at the start of May. Taken from our garden, a big sky with skylarks singing.

Strangely the weeks starting 11th and 18th of June are still available. June's a brilliant month. Spring is almost sprung and there are glorious, long, light evenings with the sun not setting along the loch until 10.30 on the 21st. The skyline stays light all night. Idyllic.
